Like the title says, can I put a 3" K&N cone style filter on my stock intake tube? Will it give me any noticable gains? Tell me what you all think.
-Rob

yes.

and even if you dont do the bov return hose chop mod(where you chop the hose thats inside the intake tract, youll see when you get in there) youll hear the stock bov quite nicely.

what intake tube?

if its a turbo the filter goes on the MAF? MAS? (Sorry its really late!)

The intake "tube" to the turbo is after that.

My adapter (yes you need one) is the 4.something" size, not the na civic 3" size you see at Ricers are us or other assorted Chain Tuner shops liker autozoned out, pepboyz! etc.
Either just get the Fipk kit or get an injen intake with filter from any reputable supplier.

And for the love of little green apples, get a 1g or other good bov (greddy etc) soon.

El plastico wastes boosts and has at least in one case (mine) been known to blow its top completely off at factory boost setings, or cracks and sounds like the Curly from the 3 stooges. Whoo whoo whoo whoo.

Get the 4" fake K&N with the included aluminum adapter from eBay. And saw off the end of the recirc tube in the throat of the elephant trunk while you're in there.
It does make a difference, maybe five horsepower on the assometer.

thats why it is worth 5 hp on the assometer, part of the "fast ness" is psychological.
You here the turbo spooling more you hear the bov better yuor mid says, hey its faster!

getting rid of the dumptube is probably worht a little throttle response/ earlier boosting. that was my experience anyway.

the filter probably does some good on cool days, on hot may be not.

thus total hp gained is 5 by the assometer as defiant indicated.

if you need adapter i have an extra one PM me. Also like Defiant said Ebay for cheapo knock off K&N they work great

aah yes, the great placebo effect :shhh: ;)

ebay has the actual K&N filter+adapter plate for 50$+shipping. good deal, seeing as kragens wanted 140 for it.

but the adapter plate may need to be "modified" for a perfect fit. unmodded it leaves small gaps between the plate and maf housing. i filed the plate so it fits flush with the maf housing so theres no gap. im sure it would be ok with the gap, letting in like 2% unfiltered air, but thats not gonna cut it for my baby.
