Just put in a new clutch, still slips!

First got the car with a rebuilt transmission and a new clutch which was done in June (bought the car in Sept) I test drove it and felt the clutch was pretty weak. Didnt go over 40mph (I was in the city) so didnt see how fast the car could go. Went up a few REALLY steep hills and the clutch pretty much gave out. At the time I couldn't go over 25-30mph without overrevving the SHIT out of the engine. When I switch gears there is no grinding and i can put it in any gear but it wont allow me to go over 30ish mph.

Had the clutch replaced with a stock one and it did the same thing... also had the flywheel resurfaced for the clutch.. no difference. Dude said the flywheel looked fine and the old clutch hardly had any dmg. Also said the Master/Slave looked fine.

Currently have the transfer case/driveshaft off gathering the funds to drop the tranny to figure this out but i'm pretty much at a loss here. Any help/suggestions would be great...

Thanks.

I would make sure the flywheel surface is in spec in the first place. I checked mine myself only to find out the guy was .020 out of tolerance. :banghead:

you can adjust the master cylinder rod out, well on a 1g not sure about a 2g but I am guessing its the same.

if all that fails I would do this, and I would probably do this before anything else happens..

take the drivers side wheel off and try to move your crank pully in and out of your eninge. push/pull on it...

if not that maybe a tranny problem?

What's done to the car? serious mods? You need to break in a new clutch assembly, slip/drive it like normal for at least a tank of gas in the city.

Before you take off the trans, how much does the clutch fork move? Where does it engage/disenguage at?(relative to the floor/from top)

edit, I wasn't going to scare him with CW this soon =P

No, nothing serious has been done to it. A turbo timer/aftermarket besides what i have in my profile. It had a engine rebuild in 06 and the tranny done (nothing aftermarket in the tranny) thats it.

Guy also drove the car two hours to where i was located on the freeway.

I have a look at the fork tomorrow see what i can find out.

My guess is the guy before you resurfaced the flywheel and it is now out of spec. Now the pressure plate has to move to far and doesn't have enough clamping force to hold the clutch to the flywheel. I'm guess its probably worse now that you have had the new clutch put in?

i would saw it sounds like the flywheel surface is too deep. had a guy come to me with a 2g with the same problem. new clutch, new slave, new master took out the tranny and the lip on his flywheel was serious! replaced the flywheel and all is well. definitaly check the easier things slave movement, also see if the slave moves back in while some holds the pedal down(pressure bleed out) if all those check out, then i would say flywheel deff
