Just ordered parts need advise

Ok so this is what I have now:

90' TSI AWD 5sp with:

stock 14b
hacked 1G mas
boost guage
data logger
3" turbo back exhaust

So I wanted to turn up the boost and do some tuning, so this is what I ordered:

2G maf w/ intake piping
SFAC II
Dejon tool dual stage MBC


Now my questions:

What should be my next step? I was thinking either 660's and a 255 pump, or upgraded SMIC and I/C piping.

Can I effectivly run with the setup I just ordered or do I need to upgrade the fuel system?

Once I install the MBC how high can I safely turn up the boost?

Should I install the 2G MAF yet or do I need somthing else?

Sorry for all the Q's but I don't want to upgrade in the wrong order and fu#$ somthing up.
 
Follow the power modification list. Stage 1 then Stage 2. That is what they are there for.

You wouldn't be in this situation in the first place if u did.
 
get 550's not 660's for a 14b.

get a 190 pump not a 255 for a 14b

clean out your SMIC with gasoline

use your AFC and your datalogger to tune your 550's

with your DSMBC on 93 octane with 550's u should be able to run around 17-18 psi (all cars are different)

if you don't know any of this information...i don't think it is a good idea that you tune your car. You could lean things out too much and melt some internals. Be sure to get a EGT gauge and get someone experienced to tune your car for you.
 
Ok, what the f*#k. How am I supposed to learn about tuning without doing it myself. There are so many different ways to modify a DSM and some of us don't have the $$$ to just go out and buy everything at once. I didn't make this thread to get beat on, I was just looking for advise. Just because I'm a newbie doesn't mean I am compleatly retarded. I am not in a "situation" I'm just starting out and I know I will need these parts in the future.
 
i understand that you are a newbie, which is precisley why i don't recommend that you tune your car yourself. You are asking very basic questions that you don't even know the answeres too. Tuning is a lot more difficult and a lot of things can go wrong if you don't know what you are doing and you are just "learning the ropes". I just don't want to see you cause any internal damage to your motor and be without a ride. I'm not trying to cut you down or anything, you asked for advice, and that is my honest opinion. If you can get someone to tune your car and you can watch them how they do it and even take down notes in a little notepad if you have to, this will all help you in your future tuning. Cuz once u get fast, you will want to go faster and if u ever add some race gas, or upgrade your turbo and injectors again, you will know what to do. You will also have an idea of what to look for when you are logging with your palm. What O2's to be looking for, what EGT's to be looking for, knock counts, etc. It is not just something a beginner can just go out and buy a logger and a afc and just go try things out. If you want something probably easier to tune if you are insistent upon doing it yourself. get a GM MAF w/ a MAFT and it will come with beginner setting for it. It is pretty easy to tune with too. Sorry if you got the wrong idea, we are all on this site to help one another out. I'm not here to down anybody, just lookin out for you and trying to save you some heartache and a lot of money from not having to rebuild your motor and head.
 
:thumb: It's all good man. I'm just pissed cause nobody around my area knows what they are talking about. I've been to several shops and everyone just does bolt on B/S like mufflers and air filters. I say DSM and there like "huh?". So don't you think w/ a EGT and my palm I could just follow the instructions from the FAQs/SAFC tuning. I'm going to put in the MBC, 2G MAF, 190 pump, 550's, SAFC II, and a EGT. How does that combo sound?
 
As long as you have a datalogger, you can tune just fine.

You should get a good fuel pump and injectors before you get a better intercooler.

To install the 2g MAF, you need the SAFC.

You might want to consider EPROM mods.
 
So today I was just logging some runs (stock) and I noticed that my knock count is very low if any, and my timing advance hovers around 20, but I can't figure out my 02, it's hunting while I am just cruising which is normal but under boost it only goes up to .76v-.78v, don't I want to see somewhere around .90v? Also shouldn't I have some reading at idle? It's showing .00v at idle, maybe bad heater element? And what about coolant temp, what is the temp. when the ECU switches to normal operating temp.? Thanks in advance for any help I'm going to go research more now.:confused:
