just got the car running but won't go over3k rpm and sputtering

k guys just finished up my 1990 talon tsi awd did a 2g head and intake swap and retiming kid installed. what my problem is the car will start and run but will not rev over 3k rpm just installed a new fuel pump and screen,also blew the fuel line out to get old gas out and drained the old gas out of the gas tank gonna instal a new fuel filter today hoping this will solve my problem any other symptoms u would suggest?btw i had to change ecms also and thats how i got the vehicle to start the old was faulty:confused:
 
Could be a vacuum leak or boost leak somewhere. Ecu could be bad. Something not hooked back up right,
Timing not set right. fuel filter. and the list goes on. But theres a start

just wanted to make sure this ecu was correct for my 1990 tsi.

just wanted u guys to know i had two coil packs the 2g and the 1g.the 1g would not fit under the 2g intake so i took the 1g coils and transister stuff off the first gen bracket and installed then onto the 2g bracket did it change the firing order or would it be the same cause after all it was just a bracket swap,on further not my exaust man is cracked and i did the maf mod to remove the lower honecomb did this hurt anything?
 
that is a 91-92 ecu and there is a good possibility it is a eprom unit. Just do the wire swap and that should take car of that. I believe you have to swap pins #6 and #14 to get it to work in your car. hope this helps. So no it is not the correct ecu but it can be made to work.
 
Just do a Google search for the ecu wire layout. There is one on there. As far as the e prom goes you will have to pull the cover on the ecu and you will see a e prom in one corner. The ecu may be a e prom but may have not been socketed yet. If not I would have that done and the caps replaced before they start leaking if they are not already to make sure you don't lose that ecu.

what you looking for on your ecu is a chip like this one has (labeled e943 yours may have a different sticker or no sticker)

Also here is a wire diagram for a 93' should be the same except for the 2 wires you need to swap. Your wiring harness needs to match this one for the ecu to work.

well both m ecu's are eprom LOL thats good news 'm gonna try and putting the old ecu back in now that its running and see if its really bad or not after i change my fuel filter.cause i really would like to eep my tach LOL.BTW what am i looking for when i open my ecu case leaking caps and burnt places but my ecu seems to not have any of them problems
 
good news both my ecu's work and start and run my car now hearing horrible vaccume leak.found the leak around my 1g throttle body i installed on my 2g intake,its leaking under the tb horribly any reason why this could happen?do i need a different gasket?or can i install my 2g tb on my 2g intake and head or is there alot of work involved?

got the vaccume leak fixed around my tb and took it for a test drive. the thing spits and sputters and smells like its running lean as hell,also does this sound like a clogged catalytic converter?:confused:
