Toronto,
I have installed the new intake system on my 97 GSX and I got a problem

Here is the link to the intake I bought.

It looks okay and I like the heat shield cone filter. I’ve done all the work and everything is tight. I have stock BOV (Greedy Type S is being shipped to me atm) and relive tube from BOV sits very tight.

Here is the problem. Whenever I go to boost and then put my car in nutural, RPM drops WAYYY past 700, like to 300-400 RPM range and car almost stalls and bounces back to normal. It did actually just STALL on me once. I tighten the tube from BOV to intake even more and its still does it but not as much. I know PPL who vent have this problem, but I don’t and not going to vent. So I am wondering maybe I have an air leak anywhere else? All the rubber connectors are tight and air is sucking in. Also still for some reason I hear by BOV spooling louder then before and when car goes in to boost it makes a nice high pitch sound (turbo prob spooling or the new intake)

Car is STOCK atm just the intake I installed and no cat (straight pipe) with some muffler. I just bought the car so I am starting on my mods. Also where down pipe meets the CAT it leaks a little. AC belt is disconnected too but AC is still present.

Any help or suggestions would be very appreciated.

did you reconect the mas plug?

LOL! Of course i did! car would not prob even run without MAS connected!

Yes all 3 tubes and MAS are connected and cleaned! eveything looks fine and its air tight...

just making sure. and the car will run without it hooked up, just not right. tons of people forget to hook it back up so just wanted to make sure you did.

Ahh I understand! Any suggestions at all? Could it be an air leak in the connection between the MAS and the chrome pipe? Or the Stock BOV is leaking as I moved it a little to fit the stock piping to new intake valve? Because the leak has to be after MAS and car acts a lot if u just dump BOV in atmosphere (which I am not).

Do a boost leak test. Also make sure the vac line is still connected to the BOV and doesnt not have any cuts, holes, or leaks in it.
Ya I will do that, but before I will wait until I get my Greedy Type S and connect it. If problem goes away… good for me if not I’ll do the boost leak tests. Wired thing is that with stock intake it was working just fine and NP at all… maybe MAS is not used to the new air flow? You think ECU reset be normal, so it can learn the new intake or that’s just stupid?

Also when I am in gear and let go of the gas car starts to juggle like it has pressure to release but it cant… I bet its damn stock BOV….

did you unplug the battery when you installed the intake? If I unplug the battery on my car, then re-connect it, it drives like how you said and it wants to stall out. After a couple of times driving it, it goes back to normal. Give your computer some time to relearn.

No I actually didn’t unplug anything, just turned off the car and let it cool down for 2-3 hours. I am thinking of unplugging negative now so the ECU can learn new Intake… actually the manual said to do that after the installation but from what I know ECU also learns you driving and shifting habits and such and since I just got the car and still learning to drive manual I am thinking to wait until I get all my mods done and prefect my driving ability then reset ECU.
