so i just hooked up my afx and my battery light wont go off. will it still remember everything with the light on or will it refresh everytime? im not to happy with it yet, it seems like i have lost power so im not sure if it just needs more time to dail in or what. i drove it half throttle for a few miles then hit it. i expected alot more out of it. the afx did help my bottom end and the afr seems alot smoother because it will idle alot better but still not right. it seems my motor runs better with the vaccum line off of the throttle body rather then on. sometimes when i take it out of gear my rpms wont drop right away like they should and when i come to a stop it doesnt want to idle properly. i just put a new iac on when i installed the new ecu. any suggestions? thanks if anyone can help or throw some ideas out there
You did order the correct year(pretty sure you did but want to cover all the possibilities) AFX correct? It will take it several drive cycles to learn your mods, infact the ecu actually never stops learning, its always looking at data that you have from your map/spark tables to the ambient air temp and what not. Your battery light well, like Fowtown said, swap in the OEM ecu and see if it fixes it. Its a common problem for the voltage regulator in the ecu to go bad and if thats all it is, it can be fixed by an external regulator. If it was me though and I just paid the expensive price of a AFX ecu from Howell I would want everything to function properly. Do you have a DVOM? If so you can check what the battery voltage is at rest and with the car running, then again at idle and at 2000 RPM's and get back to us.
