Just got a 6 bolt

Alright guys i just picked me up a 6 bolt for $300. I also snatched the 90 external oil cooler. I noticed that the water to turbo setup is different. How do i run the water return from thee turbo? The 2 g just runs into the block but there is no inlet on this block. Thanks.
 
Did the six bolt come with a six bolt water pipe?

The return line for a MHI turbo on a six bolt will run to the water pipe behind the turbo. The feed for the MHI turbo comes from the thermostat housing.

If you have a 90 OFH, then you will need to modify either a 6 bolt waterpipe to not have a turbo coolant return line or find a 90 water pipe. It is a return line for the coolant from OFH. You will also need cap off the feed from the Circled in red on the right is what you would need to remove/weld close:

I think you have it a bit off. The one you have labeled as the "turbo return" is actually the turbo feed. The one you have circled on the right side of the water pipe is actually the oil cooler feed. The turbo's coolant return goes to the thermostat housing, as does the oil cooler return line.
 
Or you could just eliminate the water to the Oil cooler, and the Turbo altogether.

The Oil-Water cooler makes no sense as the coolant and Oil are going to operate near the same temperature regardless since the block/head are already water cooled..

The only reason for the turbo coolant lines are for those who go out and beat the crap out of the car and then shut it down hot... That will cause coking of the oil and lead to turbo failure... If you turbo time your car...or drive like a civil human being for 5 or so minutes before you shut the car down then there will be absolutely no reason to even have water going to the turbo.... MOST aftermarket turbos are oil cooled only anyways.
 
The oil and water flowing through the block/head don't exactly flow in the same area, giving heat a long and difficult path to travel between the two. Coolant has the radiator to cool it; Eliminating the oil cooler takes away the primary method for cooling the oil. You may have run without it and kept your engine running, but if its there already and relatively easy to hook up, I say keep it. Oil cooler, whether air or water cooled, can only do you good.

Coolant runs from the tstat housing to both the turbo and the oil cooler. Then the turbo coolant return runs to the water pipe ditton on the oil cooler. Coolant runs toward the timing belt side of the block in the water pipe

I full heartedly believe cooling the oil is beneficial...and Air-oil cooling is optimal IMO....

But just cannot believe the water-oil cooler doing enough good to warrant keeping it ... There are WAYYY to many people out there that have overtightened the oil filter, and crushed the cooler causing oil/coolant to mix, as well as the opposite happening and the oil filter backing off due to the bolt/nut that holds the cooler in place backing off from vibration/loosening a stuck filter etc...

I agree cooling the oil is not a bad thing ever...but I do not think the stock Water-Oil cooler is a good design and in most cases I'd want it eliminated before it caused a problem with catastrophic engine failure....

FWIW The Forward facing OFH's have NO provision for coolers at all... and PLENTY of people run those w/ big turbos making huge power w/ no issue...

Again not saying a cooler is a bad idea...but Its my opinion the stock water cooler is garbage, and I'd much rather run No cooler than that one..
 
Alright, thanks for all the help. I actually found another thread where someone fed the turbo from the therm housing using a T. I plan to keep the turbo water cooled just personal prefference, and also will be keeping the 90 external oil cooler and running some fancy ss lines to it. So, just for clarification, the RETURN is on the water pipe and the FEED is from tstat housing correct? Seems to make sense that way since it pulls from radiator, through water pipe, then pushes through the motor.
