Just finished Walbro 255lph fuel pump install, is a FPR needed?

In a previously listed thread I was advised to purchase a fuel pressure regulator because I have completed the install of a walbro 255lph fuel pump, which will overwhelm the system. The mod makes complete and total sense, but I don't know if it will correct the problem (Car back/misfires and stutters under boost/WOT). This would be a symptom of running too rich right? Thanks guys, peace.
 
sounds like you have a boost leak actually...but you dont HAVE to get a fpr, some cars can get by without...but i would advise you to get one anyway as it will make tuning easier
 
Boost leak? The car was boosting to 19-22PSI at some of my test runs (I bought a cheap mbc from ebay and it's nowhere near precise). I just need to know if this problem is from running too rich cuz I don't want to mess the car up. I've got a datalogger but the software was erased when I changed the batteries so I gotta reload it at a friends house ya know. I'm pretty sure it may be rich, when I was messing with the maf translator I left the car running and my eyes started burning it smelled like fuel. My a/f gauge is probably wrong, but when the car backfires/misfires under WOT the gauge reads all the way lean, I doubt that's it tho. I can't stop worryin if it's a big problem or not, thanks for the help man
 
you still could be running rich with boost leaks, because your mas is seeing so much air coming into the engine, so it adds what ever fuel is needed for that air, if your leaking air between the mas and engine it will run richer than it should. I would start by fixing ever little leak you have and get a fpr.
