Hi everyone. I recently dynoed the old 95 gsx. Results were 253.27hp and 227.64tq at 16lbs of boost. I'm trying to keep the boost down due to a recent blown engine.

Mods are:

MHI Big 16g
XSpower fmic
Evo 8 560cc injectors
190 rewired walbro fuel pump
Evo gt manifold (turbochargers.com)
3 inch custom downpipe
3 inch magnaflow catback
Greddy turbo timer
Apexi safc 2
k&N fipk
60mm bored 2g throttlebody
Voodoo mbc

To increase hp:

raise boost to 17 pounds
Punishment racing 2.5 02 housing
Evo 3 intake manifold
Comp Cams 101100
MSD dis-2

Am i missing something or should I be knocking at 300hp with all mods above.
Constructive criticism wanted, either positive or negative. I"m trying to do this the bolt-on route. No porting of heads, intake....etc..

Thanks.

I have to agree with some of the others, boost isn't usually the cause of a blown more (within reason of course) it more then likely the tune, or lack of. I ran 20-22 psi daily on my evoIII without any issues. I plan to run 22 or may even up it to 24 with the new setup & all block internals are stock. I know of plently who have run 24 psi daily (larger then 16g sized turbos) for several years without issues & know of a guy who runs 27 daily on stock internals (2g 7 bolt), its all in the tune. You can't expect to make big numbers unless you run a descent amount of boost 18-20 psi should be no problem with your current turbo as long as you have a descent tune & aren't knocking all over the place. This alone will net you close to 300 whp results.

So... you guys are saying that im not even making 250 hp at the wheels yet. I haven't had the car dynoed but with the things that are done to it i would expect to be atleast there by now.

If your profile is correct I Would be suprised if you put down over 200hp to the wheels.

OK, got the greddy bov recirculated yesterday. I also am getting the punishment racing 02 housing (btw...Tim is awesome...hooked me on gaskets and gave some some good advice) and compcams 101100s installed within the next 2 weeks. Alsp am going with a more agressive tune. I am going to push the boost up to 18psi. Should i expect 280 or so hp? I was disappointed with the 253 at 16 psi.

Forget cams for now. Fix what you got and wring it out before you go throwing $ at it.

Turn the boost up to 20Psi, get a good tune with a wideband if possible.

Enjoy the permenant grin that will be on your face for awhile. :thumb:

The tune is the problem. Tossing cams on isn't going to fix that, just change how the car sounds a little. Can have the best parts in the world... with a crap tune, you could be slower than stock with over ten grand dumped into the car.

I agree if you are only going for 300hp then i don't think cams are needed...There has been many who went 300hp with stock turbo and cams....Like everyone said turn the boost up to 20psi with a great tune you should be there....
