My goal for this season is to make 300 whp. So far i have a 6 bolt motor with b/s removed. A small 16g, FMIC, and a boost controller. Then next things i will be gettin are safc and a pump. 550 injectors if i can afford it in the next couple weeks. What else will be needed? thanks

First and foremost a datalogger because all your parts are worth crap if you don't tune it right. Maybe an fpr and i'm not sure if you already have it but a turboback exhaust. From the pics it doesn't look like you have a hard UICP so if you don't then you might want to pick one of those up with at least a 1g bov if you don't already have one. Plus you might want to pick up a different FMIC core because starion cores are only good for 300hp max (correct me if i'm wrong).

You'll need a turboback exhaust, hard pipes, intake, some kind of exhaust manifold upgrade, a datalogger, and a BOV upgrade along with the 550cc injectors, fuel pump, and SAFC you mentioned before.

With these you should be making 300hp easily:dsm:

I would invest in a logger anyways just because there's no better feeling than tuning your car yourself. Besides it's not that expensive and it's not that hard to learn how, ask the guy you know to teach you the basics.

With the 16g, the starion front mount, safc, fuel pump, stock exhuast no cat just straight pipe, and the boost up to ###### 17 what do you think its possible to run if i hook up good at the track.

your deffinetly going to need exhaust...turbo back would be the best. Id also get intake, the more air the better

You should invest in some 660's over the 550's. The 660's will allow you more head room with the 16g. Most people max out there 550's and end up buying bigger later. So make sure you do it right the first time!

how far can i max out my 450s right now. I can afford a fuel pump and a safc but not injectors at the time.

Not to be rude, but you have been here long enough to know better than to waste our time with stuff like this.

I hope this helps and please search next time. How are we supposed to break newbies from posting stuff like this when proven members do the same thing.

Well, he definately should not get 650s because he needs them because no 16g - small, big, or EVO3 - will need 650s w/ stock cams and stock rev limit. But it is a good investment because he might get the cams and other upgrades later. 650s are good for 400 horsepower at 80% injector duty cycle and stock fuel presure. 550s = 340 horsepower. A small 16g will be hard pressed to give him more than 340 horsepower worth of air w/ stock cams.

450s flow enough fuel (w/ a good tune) for 300 horspower at the crank w/ stock fuel pressure and running them to 90% injector duty cycle. This is the maximum I would ever go w/ %IDC. Anything more gave inconsistant results for me and burns up your injectors rather quick. After all you can sell them on ebay for a decent amount of $$$.

:notgood: BOOOOOO! He wasn't asking for a general guide to get to 300 horsepower. He was asking what is he missing? You can make 300 horsepower and not follow that general guide at all.

If it was a waste of time why did you take the time to open the thread if you read the title? Then why did you read his post and perhaps more posts and then reply? You didn't have to waste your time. But, you chose to wate your time.

The first rule in replies:
1. No "Use the Search" replies - answer the question, link to the answer, or don't reply.

You both are new.

You have enough to reach your goal...

Shoot for 20 psi. If you're knocking at certain rpms add fuel at that point if you're not then lean her out a little at a time. Tune for a smooth timing curve. No sudden dips. This is your ecu pulling timing because of detonation.

You're on stock head bolts. 6-bolt headbolts are thicker than 7-bolt headbolts so they're stronger. BUT, i lifted my head, stretched my stock headbolts, and popped my oem headgasket with the small 16g when I ran through a string of knock. A logger is paramount!

If he doesn't use a logger, then don't bring him your car. If he's going to use a WBO2 and "listen" to knock, that is not enough. I didn't hear the knock that lifted my head off of my block. . . . Heed the warning!

My oem clutch did fine w/ my small 16g power level. We're FWD. We just burn and burn and burn. So it won't slip terrible. But you'll learn that slipping the clutch in 1st and 2nd gives you great launches. And that will wear an oem clutch out in a weekend!

So he should be able to reach his goal with the mentioned upgrades, dsmlink as a tuner, an afc, and 20 psi??? I very curious on ths because I am planning to do the 300 hp goal too.
