Hi everyone. I recently dynoed the old 95 gsx. Results were 253.27hp and 227.64tq at 16lbs of boost. I'm trying to keep the boost down due to a recent blown engine.

Mods are:

MHI Big 16g
XSpower fmic
Evo 8 560cc injectors
190 rewired walbro fuel pump
Evo gt manifold (turbochargers.com)
3 inch custom downpipe
3 inch magnaflow catback
Greddy turbo timer
Apexi safc 2
k&N fipk
60mm bored 2g throttlebody
Voodoo mbc

To increase hp:

raise boost to 17 pounds
Punishment racing 2.5 02 housing
Evo 3 intake manifold
Comp Cams 101100
MSD dis-2

Am i missing something or should I be knocking at 300hp with all mods above.
Constructive criticism wanted, either positive or negative. I"m trying to do this the bolt-on route. No porting of heads, intake....etc..

Thanks.

To me those numbers are kind of low with your mods. I was making more torque than that on a 14b without a fmic at 15lbs.
My opinion is do away with that safc tune, or get a custom chip to compliment that safc tune or get dsmlink. Also supposing you have the fuel set right and the tune right, then bump boost up to 20. Then to top it off a upgraded 02 housing will help.
And if you have a crush bent 3in exhaust system like I do then upgrading to mandrel, or at least doing a bigger crushbent system may result to a few gains...
And considering that your a 2g, a 1g tb will help, and with some good cams like fp2s, comps, hks 272 variations then i dont see why you cant be at more like 320- 350ish whp ( supposing compression was good and that no timing was being pulled nor boost leaks. )

if he already has a 2g with 60mm bored out, no need for a 1g, the Evo will give you a ltitle bit of horsepower but dont expect much. Pop the boost up to 18 and make sure it doesnt spike. Cams would be a hell of an upgrade!

If your trying to keep your boost down, how do you expect to see full potential out of your setup? I understand you don't want to blow ## engine, but if your trying to get a decent amount of HP, your gonna have to up it. You have an Safc, so i assume you have the ability to log somehow, tuning is where your gonna get your power, get a really good tune on that bish!

Btw- where did you get a 60mm 2g TB? I didnt think you could port them that big, but i guess anythings possible.

Otherwise it looks like your on the right path, good luck!:thumb:

I got the 2g bored throttle body from Steve Monroe on ebay. He's also a member here, just havent' seen him post recently. I will crank the boost up a lil to see what that does. Probably will go no higher than 17 pounds though, can't afford another engine, as i've just replaced this one a few months ago.

ah-ha, just looked them up, they look pretty sweet! Looks like a good deal. Like ^^ he said, maybe gasket-matching your IM would provide some more airflow. Good Luck again!

I would honestly recommend DSMLink. My friend has an EVO III 16g, 650cc, FMIC with some stock IC piping still, 190lph and DSMLink and can run 23lbs on 91 pump with no knock and makes around 340awhp. 300 should be easy for you, just need to add some fuel and timing and up the boost a little to get where you want. I wouldn't be worried about the motor.

Evalutate why the other motor blew and it was probably because of your tune, not because of the amount of boost you were running.
I just dont care much for safcs myself, definitly get dsmlink, and if you cant afford that, then definitly get a dsm keydiver chip at www.dsmchip.com and use that as your base tune setting and then just use the safc to fine tune after that...
Just my .2cents. :dsm:

Use the safc just watch knock. If you not getting knock your not going to have a problem. You afraid to turn the boost up, but not to run the motor to redline ??? I would just have them tune rich your going to lose some power, but it will be sfaer. If you want to make that power you need to raise boost or buy a much larger turbo. As long as you don't throw a rod odds are worst that will happen is you'll blow a head gasket. Buy another one slap it on and your good to go. If you want a car that makes close to 300 hp awd and has a warranty buy and Evo or Sti.

I figured if you have an Safc you also would have to have a logger. Sorry I shouldn't assume stuff. Anyway Reguardless of what you want to do you will have to turn the boost up.

Is your clutch slipping at all? Perhaps a beefier clutch than stock. I thought the stocker starts slipping around 250 hp.

Well, i have a few issues. I just ordered my greddy rs recirculation kit for my bov and my automatic tranny is just about dead. I should see improvements once i fix these items.

No, no porting of intake manifold. It's also on my to do list.

I would get that done next before you do anything else, Theres a good article on how to do it some where but I dont feel like finding it cuase im tired. But its pretty much Take off throttle body put gasket on intake manifold use a marker and trace the inside edge stuff a shirt or sometihng inside your intake so no metal gets inside there and use a dremel and go to town then use something to smooth it out if you wish. Use a vacuum to suck up as much metal as possible then carful pull out the rag then put tb back on and be done.

250 hp are you sure? that seems rather low to me. I think im at least making 250 and i have
14b 15psi
mbc
type s bov
cat back apex n1
1g head
cyclone intake manifold
1g cams
act x light weight flywheel
stock fuel right now
2g exhaust manifold

thats really all the perfomace stuff there are random other things like gauges but 250 is rather low i would at least say 280 before the cluth starts slipping

I also have a Cyclone tb just haning out at my place so if anyone wants to pick it up just pm me. its the same as a 1g 60mm

Yeah, 253hp. Tomorrow i'm putting the recirculation piece on my greddy rs bov, so that should help. I'm also looking for an evo 3 manifold to match up to my bored 60mm. After that new tranny, punishment racing 02 housing, compcams 101100s, boost increase to 17psi and i will let everyone know new numbers. Fingers crossed for the magical 300 number.

Good luck finding the evo3 manifold. But personally I would make sure everything is how it should be before bolting on new parts to fix a problem just incase that isnt the problem.

at 17 psi I don't think your going to hit 300 at 17.. the evo 9's don't even hit 300 at 19 so you might have to take it above 20 putting that on the bov isn't going to increase power becuase that air has already been read by the ecu so it will just give you better gas mileage
