Just Dropped off the 6 bolt at the machine shop

I just dropped off the block and head to the machine shop to get the ball rolling. This is a big expensive step for me. Here is the setup that I am considering doing.

2.0l
Scat rods
Wisco 8.3:1 pistons
balancing shafts gone
bore .20 over
rebuilt head with possibly new cams but not sure on what cams to use

My goal is 400 whp so would this be a good setup, or would this be a little overkill. I want to run this as a daily driver setup. I wont have the boost set high for daily but, still be able to turn it up when I want to.

Block cleaning, bore-hone, clean the head and new valves , and balancing.

Sounds like a pretty standard solid set-up and capable of handling 400hp. Of course this also depending on what turbo you plan on running.

So here are some questions that'll give us a good idea of if you'll be looking at 400hp
-What turbo are you running
-Are you going to have any porting/polishing done to the head along with the basic rebuild?
-Aftermarket springs, retainers, valves?


As fas as cams go I suggest FP2s but you'll hear different thoughts on that

For now I will continue to use my evo III 16g and probably be pretty much stock head. I would like to port the head myself.

As for cams what about the FFWD hks copies I have read good things and there cheap.

I also need a gasket and balancing shaft elimination kits. Were is a good place to get these. Also is there a kit that has all the gaskets and barrings for a rebuild? I see SB has one but it has pistons and I dont need pistons. The machine shop can get all this but I want to shop around a little.

400hp is still along ways off but hopefully my car will run alot stronger and I can hopefully get rid of the ### phantom knock.
