I just burnt my first eprom chip, and thought I'd share a log. I haven't done any tunning yet, needs a little work but I think I got it pretty close to start with.

Keep us posted on tuning. I have a similar setup as you, with fuel and eprom and my logs at 18 to 19 psi show max timing at 17* and INJP of 15.87 also. I thought I might be missing something but maybe it's close to normal for the setup. However I have logged higher Airflow 3150Hz but still the same timing and IJNP. Keep up the good work.

Is say it needs just a lil tuning to by the looks of it, everything is pretty close to where you want it, aside from top of 3rd pullin a little timing to it looks like.
Keep us posted on how it turns out..

That first log is total garbage. I made a pull on the way home from work, the injector pulse width and g/rev were identical. I looked at my code, I forgot to do the injector pulse width elimination mod.

Here's a log with the only change being injector pulse width cap elimination.

It looked that way. You can see your IPW flatline.
Is that with the EVO III turbo? The airflow looks pretty high compared to what I see with my B16G, but I don't run much boost. What boost pressure are you running?

Steve

Yeah thats with an EVO III @ 19psi, I was thinking that it looked pretty high also.

I need to figure out what is causing the knock between shifts and lean it out some up top. With a chip set up for 680cc and my emanage I was able to run 11.5 a/f ratio with no knock at the same boost.

If my math is correct you also hitting about 90% DC at around 6300 rpm with those pulse widths.

Second gear 6375 18.8 16.9 89.78
Third gear 6281.25 19.1 17.66 92.44

I'd go out and try running 19psi to get some MAF Hz to compare to but I've only got 560s and if your numbers are correct I'd run out of fuel.

Are those real WB numbers?
I assume you tweeked the fuel maps. What was your target AFR in the maps?

Steve

steve said:

PLX m300 wired to the EGR temp input and logged via custom sensors in mmcd.

I used the maps provided with the extended maps guide. In that area of the map the target afr is 9.27 to 9.13

Do the numbers logged match what you say on the display? There's been some discussion about voltage offset when feeding the WB to one of the ECU inputs. If 10.7:1 was correct then your running leaner than the maps and that blows any thought of any boost leaks giving those Hz.

The logged numbers don't match the display, I already corrected the numbers I posted to reflect that. I actually logged 11.0:1.

Are you saying that with the map I'm using I should be getting 9.13:1 instead of 10.7:1? What could cause my afr to be so far off, maf sensor, o2 sensor, or restriction in the fuel system? I'm surprised that the maps are set up so rich, I think the stock maps are even richer than the one I used. And I do have a very small boost leak at my throttle body seals.

You just named a couple. If everything was dead on you would expect the map and the wideband to be close. Since that's the whole idea. But any variance in the actual injector flow, MAF response, or leaks would cause a difference between the target map and actual AFR.

Steve

I made some more changes. I leaned out the fuel map almost 0.5:1 through out the whole map. I also took 2 degrees of timing out from 0.5 g/rev through 1.5 g/rev and 4500 rpms through 7000 rpms. This seems to have fixed the knock between shifts I was getting, the air fuel is a little leaner but still too rich. Next change will be lean out the fuel map some more and take away a little timing at the top of the rev range. I'm going to reduce my fuel pressure from 50psi to 49psi. My trims are currently low 105, mid 95, and high 99. I like to have these closer to 110.

I just tried the adjustments mentioned above, the car didn't like it. Way too lean, no knock but the car was sputtering and missfiring in open loop, closed loop ran great though. AFR was between 12.1:1 and 11.9:1 for the entire pull, I'm on 92 octane so this is way to lean. I think next I'm going to leave the fuel pressure at 49psi (my trims changed to low 108, mid 100, and high 103), and go back to my unmodified fuel and timing maps and start over from there.

I went to an 1/8 drag race today. It looks like those flow numbers we thought were on the high side may be accurate, I ran a best of 7.645 seconds. I was in the 7.6-7.7 range all day, never got any knock. This was on 92 octane. Looking at the 1/4 mile list on this website that puts me at 11.5-11.8 in the 1/4. Using an ET based horse power calculator this works out to 442-409 wheel horsepower and 521-483 flywheel horsepower. This is probably way to much for the stock internals.

I'll probably be starting a new thread tomarrow on what is the best way to detune my car to save the engine.

what a/f ratio are you aiming for? im kindove new to the DSM world, but have been tuning boosted hondas for a while now. im just curiouse what you feel a good a/f ratio in a boosted DSM is?

thanks

Prior to burning my own chips, I was using a basic eprom chip and emanage. With that setup I had good success with 11.5:1, the car ran real good their. If I went any leaner it ran like crap, any richer it still ran good but not as much power according to my butt dyno. I had to retard the timing some to hit that afr, but I think it made more power at the leaner setting with lower timing.

My current state of tunning has me at 11.0:1. I'm staying here until I decide how close I am to the limits of the stock internals, and if I need to detune.
