I've always wanted a dsm and I finally got one! Its a bone stock 92 talon tsi awd with a perfect 5 speed tranny. The only upgrade I did was new KYB shocks and H&R lowering springs. I've been researching around and I do want to do the 16g evo III turbo upgrade but what else do I need besides the turbo? Will the stock manifold fit properly? Will I need to upgrade to bigger injectors? Should I buy a AFC or would the stock ECU handle it well? I'm looking to get around the 13's to low 14's with my car. I also want to make it my daily driver. I do, however, want the 16g turbo on the car. Any suggestions or ideas would really help.

-if you have a 92 talon, you have a 14b turbo. It has a 6cm housing. The evo316g uses a 7cm housing. You can upgrade you manifold to the evo3 manifold or any other 7 cm outlet mitsu manifold. The oil feed and return line will line up the same. The coolant feed and return line will also match up. Remember to use new crush washers if you are going to be using the stock lines from your 14b. The o2 housing from the stock 1g might be too restrictive. You should look into a new exhaust system also. The stock exhaust is restrictive with its press bends and small diameter piping.

Will I need to upgrade to bigger injectors?

-Yes you will need bigger injectors than the stock 450cc to fully utilize this turbo. You will also need to look into upgrading you fuel pump to a walbro 190 or 255 to meet you fuel needs. 560cc injectors work well with the 16g. If you have ECMlink or another tuning software that can candle larger injectors, just get 1000cc and get it done with. They are larger if you ever choose to upgrade even more.

Should I buy a AFC or would the stock ECU handle it well?

-You need tuning software when you upgrade you injectors. You can use a AFC to tune with an evo3. I recommend ECMlink, just buy it and you will never buy another tuning platform. The stock ecu will no be able to handle the new injectors and 16g

Goodluck

^^Do what he said and upgrade your clutch, I think ACT 2100 w/street disk would be fine.

There is a saying in the domestic car world that I never hear on this site (could be due to the abundance of FWD's ;) ) its "Build em from the back to the front" The idea is get all the supporting mods done then go for the motor work.

Get the exhaust done, get the clutch done, get some tuning hardware and experience, then go for the motor work.

Sucks to be that guy who buys the big turbo and ruins the motor a week later and the car sits for a year, or gets sold to me for pocket change

I would find a 2g exhaust manifold, port it out, port out the 14b to a 7cm exhaust housing, get a nice front mount with piping, 3inch turbo back exhaust and get atleast a 190lph fuel pump, turn up the boost.

Thanks guys. I am an experienced turbo user for my first vehicle was a MKIII supra turbo. I'm new to DSM and I always wanted an awd. I think I'll upgrade my fuel pump first. After that, I'll probably go full with either a 16g turbo or the 20g turbo. Damn.... I want to do more but in the state I live in (California), it totally sucks due to smog and emissions.
