so i just traded my 2006 kx250 dirtbike for a 1990 plymouth laser turbo FWD and litteraly know nothing about DSMs but i am very excited to get started on my project...... i have a few questions... first of all the car has 161,000 miles but runs perfect, no oil leaks or burning. it has new factory clutch, altenator, timing belt replaced recently by the seller. i have just changed the oil, replaced the plug wires and plugs all NGK, replaced cracked oil cooler and broken front motor mount.

1. where exactly is my mass air flow sencer located? i would like to remove the restrictor behind it cause i heard all it does is restrict air and it will make the "ppsssshhhh" louder without causing any damage.

2. will cutting up my air box give me better air flow hence making my turbo or bov louder?

3.are there any easy free mods (to were i can just go outside and do the mod) that i can go do? yes i have researched just wanting to know more

4. everything on my car is completely stock.... can anyone tell me how much boost i should be building? it builds 8 lbs now

5. with this car having so many miles is there anything i should watch out for or look into?

thank you guys very much

Congrats on the new purchase.
1 - The MAS is located on the passenger side of the car. It's a big round canister looking type of thing, just look at your turbo and follow the intake up, you will then see the mas conencted to it. Take it off alltogether with the aircan and remove the star-shaped silencer.
2 - Yes. You can hack the big airbox or remove it completely which is what most people do.
3 - Clean all your intercooler pipes and intercooler with gasoline and go to walmart and run a fuel filter in between the line that goes from the valve cover to the intake, this helps keep oil out of the intake.
4 - Stock boost on these cars is said to be around 12 psi. Get a real boost gauge if you haven't done so already and a mbc if you'd like.
5 - If you take good care of your car and are up to par with maintenance real good, your car will be just fine.

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site. The above poster posted all of the links you will need to know.

i read this in the link you sent me

There are several \"hacks\" to the mass airflow meter that will solve a plethora of problems that plague these cars. Take the whole aircan out of the car, and remove the filter. On the intake side, you will see 2 honeycombs. Remove the lower one. Below it, you will see a large plastic screw set up into the bottom of the air canal. Back it out a bit. On the other side of the MAF, there is a star-shaped siliencer, remove it.
(An example)

the problem im having is the honey combs... when i remove the lower honey comb do i just remove the metal honey comb looking part or do i remove the whole inner peice?( that holds both the honey combs) and try to remove the plastic that surrounds the honey comb and the metal comb peice? or just the metal?

and also it says "Below it, you will see a large plastic screw set up into the bottom of the air canal. Back it out a bit" i cannot seem to find this screw...i have not removed the lower comb yet but you can see right through it and i cant see any screw or anything that looks like a screw....:hmm:
