Hey guys, i just bought a 95 gst last night and it all of the sudden just died while driving.

Anyway, i cant hear the fuel pump. I opened up the pump plate or whatever its called under the back seat. And the only time i can hear the pump at all is when the clutch is pressed and i am actually trying to start it(with the starter turning over). And even then its quiet(im not sure how loud its suppose to be). Other than that the pump is off. My car will not start at all.

What can it be? Relay? Im doing searches throughout the forum right now, but cant find an answer. Thanks

yea I would look to see if when you just turn you key from 'off' to on if you can hear a click somewhere under the dash or around the center console, that would be your fuel pump relay turning on, and the fuel pump is pretty quiet, i couldnt hear mine turning on when in fact it was. also just try cranking the engine over about 5 revolutions, just enough to build some fuel pressure, and then pull the fuel return line off the fuel rail by your cam gears, if it sparys fuel in a pressurized style then your pump is good. another way to check you fuel pump is lto take a test light and see if its even getting power from the harness (please make sure your key is turned in the on possison when you do this!). Good Luck, let me know. -Matt

okay, i hooked the pump strait up to a battery, and i can then hear it. So i want to find the relay. The haynes doesnt give a good explanation of where it is.

Where the heck is the thing?????Please, Please pleeeeeeease tell me!

also, what is the relay called if i were to go get one at autozone. They cant find anything under "fuel pump relay"

Did you take the fuel return line off of the fuel pressure regulator by you cam gears to see if you have fuel pressure? Also check the MPI fuse. And maybe put a post up to where the 2g gst fuel pump relay is located. That should all help, at least you know you pump is good. good luck man, lemme know, -Matt

The fuel pump is getting about 2 volts ONLY when i have the clutch in and turning the key to start it(withthe starter turning the engine) Otherwise, its not getting any power.

Where is the frickin relay? The haynes says it "to the right of the console"
