I am looking to replace my stock intake manifold with a JM fab one. The questions i have is;

1) what sensors can i now get rid of, and what ones do i need to keep? ( i know i need to keep the map, tps, and idle air )

2) what do i have to do with the egr valve now?

3) can i get rid of all the charcoal canaster lines and box without throwing a check engine light?

- now i am runing dsmlink, so are these some problems that i could fix with it? - for anyone wondering- Yes, i am still running a 7 bolt engine.

-Thanks

1) You generally only need to retain the TPS and idle air control.

2) People typically toss the EGR when running a sheet metal IM.

3) Any error codes you get can be disabled with DSMLink.

Thank you for the detailed reply, yesterday i removed my charcoal canaster and all of the lines from the passenger side of the car. I couldnt believe how many vacume lines that got rid of, the engine bay looks so much nicer.

I came across some other things ide like to remove if possible ( without throwig a check engine light due to NY states inspection laws )

There are a few "boost sensors" 1, directly above the intake manifold, as well as one right next to the brake fluid bottle. These have a 2 wire plug, they are ugly, and i dont even know what they are for... Any ideas? / and could i get rid of them without throwing a CEL? - again if this is something i can get rid of with dsmlink that wouldnt be a problem.
Thanks again.

The one directly behind the im is the solenoid to your carcoal canister. The one next to the brake res. is your fuel pressure solenoid.

On 98's, the charcoal canister is located near the alternator in front of the left/driver side wheel well. You may not need to get rid of it for your SMIM install. And yes, you can get rid of all the lines and the canister without throwing a CEL as long as you don't disconnect the EGR solenoid (you'll see it, it has all the lines going through it in the same location as the canister). My car hasn't thrown a CEL since I did it.

Yeah man.Think about it.Why would you want to remove a vacuum line for fuel pressure?ALl the other ones are for emissions.By the way, I wouldnt go throwing out your vac set up/sensors.You have a good chance that you will have to put them back for an inspection.The guy told me when I brought my car if it was a a 96 or newer they wouldnt have passed me without the sensors and vac set up.You could still leave them unchecked with dsmlink and just throw them back in there and connect the hoses (doesnt matter if they are right) just for your inspection so it looks like they function.
