JDM list

Hey guys. I need a little help. I need to formulate a list of JDM "stuff" (parts, novelty ect.) that y'all think would be needed or wanted here at DSMtuners. I have a friend who has contacts in Japan and is trying to get "something" going. But... he needs a list of things from real tuners so that he knows exactly what to get and how to go about getting it. So if you guys have any ideas please post them and ill relay the message. To tell you the truth it might be more profitable for him to get Honda parts, since their is a bigger market for JDM Honda stuff.

uhm.... Not sure what's in japan that we cant' get here as far as tuning, but how about some examples of what could be had. "JDM" parts really aren't that great in comparison to USDM parts, this has been covered quite a bit. SO asides from MAYBE a few people wanting JDM ECU's and harnesses i wouldn't know what else they'd have that we'd want.

We can buy EvOIII 16G's all day long stateside, as for injecttors a set of RC 550's would be more than an evo injector for flow, so those injectors would only be needed if you had the JDM ECU and harness.

Theres no such thing as JDM sidemarkers, lips, headlights etc?? Wow this sucks.. Thats one thing I love about Honda's is how nice JDM parts look.

JDM is just a retarded acronym people slap on everything now. 90% of the crap you find on ebay and shit is just badged that way so people will buy it going " its teh JDM gotta have it". JDM engines, yea, thats real, but not JDM bolts, and JDM bulbs, and JDM car wash, and JDM goats milk, and all that crap. I find it retarded. JDM barely means anything useful anymore.

Correct me if im wrong but aren't there JDM eclipse taillights? im pretty sure there are they are yellow on the ends. i know that holds true for the 2g eclipses. Mitsu did it right they didn't make all there japanese cars better like honda. Honda/Acura japanese models have so many more options, I can think of probably 20 different things for my 07 civic si thats different in japan. Another car that has alot of things for in in Korea is the tiburon. I use to make a KILLING off of getting all the KDM options and selling them here in the US. I use to get kdm "Tuscani",which is the tirburon in every plave except for the u.s. emblems for around 2 dollars get them here sell them for 24 dollars! I managed to pay for the whole car just by selling KDM parts, that was until everyone else caught onto what i was doing well now you guys know my story. But check into them taillights

What you are refering to are EDM tail lights.

I tried doing this a few times and it doesn't really work. I tried selling JDM Galant body parts, cyclone intakes, and Evo 3 engines. I had to take a loss on almost all of it except the Galant body parts, which I barely broke even. Before you jump into this VERIFY that there is actually a demand for these parts. You'll quicky find out that a lot of people are just talking out their asses, DSM'ers are cheap bastards, they change their tune really quick when they see the prices. I still have ads up for cyclone intakes, on 4 forums and no reponses. The last price was somewhere in the neighborhood of $40 shipped with new oem gaskets and the vacuum reservoir, and still no takers.


The only thing I ever really profited from was buying complete from clips and parting them out. If you are really tight with your importer you can have him get you the good clips, with lots of aftermarket parts.

cyclone are better at mid end power, on top of that they are duel runners.

Get as many as you can. We need 'em! One day, someone's gonna ruin the last 6-bolt and all the hardcore 2.0 purists will have to switch to G4CS's.

Tell your Boys that we can pay what it will take to get the cars to the states but to keep them as japanese as possible, there will be a lot of things on the cars that are NOT steet legal. They will be responsible for the cars when they get into country. Also, most inportantly... we are not an established business yet so we don't have reture policies and stuff like that you know? Was there anything cool for the 420A in japan?

IIRC, the 420A was only for the USDM. 2GNT cars for the rest of the world got a non-turbo 4G63.

What a shame that didn't happen everywhere.

What could japan offer us.. I have noticed that dsm's have fairly resonable prices. You could possible try to get some engine internals..Hell maybe some short blocks or longblocks =)

2g owners might be interested in Galant front knuckles for bolting on EVO front brembo calipers and rotors. There's a thread elsewhere on the forum covering one person's efforts to do this and he listed which Galant parts were needed.
