Hey guys. I need a little help. I need to formulate a list of JDM "stuff" (parts, novelty ect.) that y'all think would be needed or wanted here at DSMtuners. I have a friend who has contacts in Japan and is trying to get "something" going. But... he needs a list of things from real tuners so that he knows exactly what to get and how to go about getting it. So if you guys have any ideas please post them and ill relay the message. Thanks guys.:dsm:

Alright heres what "Scooby" (the contact) had to say about the cars.

Hey leo,

Tell your Boys that we can pay what it will take to get the cars to the states but to keep them as japanese as possible, there will be a lot of things on the cars that are NOT steet legal. They will be responsible for the cars when they get into country. Also, most inportantly... we are not an established business yet so we don't have reture policies and stuff like that you know? We are going to do our best so it would suck if we find the part and buy it, then someone changes their mind.... you know? Hit me back. I stay at the computer all day.

And by the way. I am not trying to sell anything, I am just trying to help a friend out. Im gonna probably end up paying the same that you guys will if everything turns out alright. Im hoping it does cause all I want is the Snap-On key toppers.

Dude not only sounds shady as hell but he also sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing. Just another jdm parts specialist based out of some dudes dormroom huh. I've got a couple vendors that have done well in the past, I think I'll stick to the "tried and true" on this one...

also considering there wasn't an "eclipse" it was a "FTO" which I would love to have, saw one in the Bahamas good stuff

The FTO is in no way related to the Eclipse family. Completely different body and engine list.

Have him send me a JDM gull wing eclipse GSX shell.

I thought the gull wing ones were a Germanese thing?

have any of those gull wing eclipes ever made it to the u.s.? they are pretty neat but is 50 grand what they really cost? i read on a website there was only 15 made and they cost 50 grand? also is the any of the fto in the u.s.

JDM Goats milk and 6 bolt motors with good heads, flood our market with 6 bolts so none of us ever have to worry about a 7 bolt nightmare again(although mine was a good motor) :LOL

But anyway, dont forget the goat's milk!!

That guy has no clue how illegal it is to import an entire car. I know some people that did that for a few years and ended up with a long list of felonies and fines they'll never be able to afford to pay. I would avoid dealing with him if I were you.

It's not illegal to import an entire car. It IS illegal to import an entire car with the intent to resell it without paying taxes, tariffs, etc.

I think the primary problem with finding JDM goat's milk is that there aren't many goats in Japan. Likewise for the any part for us 1g guys. For the cyclone, it's just too much work to create a working system and have it run as well as having just a SMIM.

The only parts I could see being worthwhile would be those short blocks and long blocks if there was any kind of actual guarantee that it doesn't have over 120k miles on it - which there is no way that anyone buying a part from another country could actually do.

what guy is this guy even talking about? And i think you are getting wrong info? you can import cars no problem as long as you pay all of the taxes and dues that are accompanied with them. Then after that you have to make it so im complies with state laws.

There are some federal laws about importing new cars and the number that are allowed each year for resale. I'm not sure how far this extends to used cars. New vehicles need to follow some pretty strict guidelines about installed equipment and registration requirements.

As long as everything is out in the open and they're not trying to buy cars straight from another country and bypassing all the dealership/import fees and everything will be fine. Oh, and they're not doing anything like the French Connection... no heroine is allowed under the paneling. ;)

Shipping vehicles across borders in one of those sealed cargo bins is fairly common. They use heavy duty scanners that can actually penetrate the steel containers so they always know what's coming through the ports. Customs will require certain paperwork be filed with complete contents and value be disclosed. They will then tax the importation and any extra fees based on that paperwork.

Found the Evo. Where does it have to be shipped to? We have to make sure that it is covered in the price before we can give the quote.

Ok, this sales thread is getting a little ridiculous and if you're not a supporting vendor I do not believe DSMTuners, as a community, feels that promoting or providing this much support to an unverified distributor in good taste and conscience.

Please do not pursue such blatant disregard for the policies established. While it might seem an easy fix for "helping" others, it leaves far too much open for poor decisions among uninformed individuals and possible fraudulent activities.

We didn't buy it yet. Were still working on finding someone to ship the car. We wanted to know the address so we can total up all that stuff. It's not going to be fast because a week ago this was just something we THOUGHT about. Now we actually have a customer so we have to Get all of this together. Plus, we have to get the specs to see if your boy really wants the car. We are gonna iron all this out though.

The guy doesnt want money, he just wants an address so that he can get some shipping estimates. If you guys have any questions or at all skeptical you have his e-mail address. Yes I am a little skeptical myself thats why I asked for pics and proof. No one is forcing y'all to do anything, if your not interested just look away. I understand y'alls curiosity and doubt.

Yo Leo,

Tell your boys that this is not our JOB and we are doing the best we can. The other two guys are in the Marine Corps. We are doing the best We can and like I said, This is the first car any of us has ever tried to ship and truth be told, we are trying to find a cheeper way to ship it because right now we are looking at $10,000 and that is JUST shipping. Now if your boys wants to pay that, plus the price of the car and all of that, I'm sure we can get it off alot sooner. Now if he wants to give us a little time, I'm sure we can find something more affordable. We wanted to know where he lived because my boy in the States was wondering if He can rent a uhaul and take the car to him, or if we would have to use a State side service. Once we got the totals together, we were going to send it to you so that you can give it to him and see if he actually wanted to pay for it. Once everyone was happy, THEN we were going to act on the deal. We are doing the best we can in the interest of the customer, but they are already losing faith after only 3 days, maybe they should find the next guy.

Thanks for the Patience Leo. We got about 5 key chains ordered. :)

P.S. I am going to have to forward that letter to my boys.

Still trying to get an address. The guys are starting to get a little edgy about the situation. I told them that if they dont want no part of it then to just look away. They all think that the whole thing is turning out to be a scam. You know how that goes. I guess it seems to good to be true to them. Ive still got faith in you Scooby just keep that in mind. Ill keep you updated. DSM Power!!!
