Hello everybody.
My name's Jordan, and Ive been into dsm's for a couple years now. Im located in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
This is the first of many posts that ill be throwing up here as I get closer to the completion of my build (If I ever feel its complete
) Ive been a member of BC DSM for a couple years now, and I owe the people on there a huge thank you for the knowledge and assistance that I have received from the club. DSM owners are great. I also have to thank RTM Racing in Ontario for being my favorite place to shop
I have bought a lot of stuff on here so Im sure a few members will recognize my name. Cant say I have had much luck buying things on here (and I mean expensive parts)
There are only a handful of parts that I have bought off DSM tuners that have even been useable sadly.. I hope future transactions can go a little smoother. I can assure you, that if you buy a part from me, I will be 100% honest in its condition.
Im fortunate to have a great relationship with 'Racing Greed' in Coquitlam (my local tuner shop) In my mind, one of the best tuner shops. Ive seen enough solid builds come out of there to know. 250whp-1500whp builds.
These guys have guided me through the many decisions that are made during a build. I focused on making the car an absolute street/drag beast.
I want the car to be drive-able. I want to enjoy it during the summer, and hammer down at the track. Ive tried to stay moderately conservative throughout my build. I could have gone bigger and badder. But I wanted to stay grounded and realistic.
The car is much different now to say the least...
ill get into the details as to all the changes Ive made once you know what I started with.
I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a black 1ga with some pretty good bolt ons.
The car was already set up with:
- speed density
- 3inch turboback exhaust
- oil cooler
- kinetic T3 tubular SS mani
- innovate wideband
- relocated civic battery
- Custom 4" intake pipe w/ huge K&N.
- 272 regrinds
- massive custom intake mani w/ 70mm tb.
- adj cam gears
- ACT 2600 w/ street disk
- Cometic hg.
- KYB AGX susp.
- Garrett GT3071r .63 t3 garrett housing.
- 4 bolt lsd

This may be a pretty quick thread, since Im almost done my build. I just have to get the engine in and it will be complete.
I had a lot of mechanical problems with this car. It took some serious motivation to get it where it is now. Ive been focused on my build daily for over a year now. I dont waste time.
Here are some pics of the car when I first started out.
p.s. There was no rubber on the ground before I got there...
jk

Ill start this off with a couple pictures of some changes I made.
I ended up moving to a stock 1g manifold completely ported with a stock 1g tb.
The sheetmetal one developed major cracks around 28psi.
Also moved to a greddy type R bov.
The transmission was changed out for a late 2g trans and shifted like butter.
Until I ruined the input shaft and clutch splines... but who cares right! this is a sweet build thread! nothing ever brakes on a dsm

I drove it for a year with barely any issues!!!! I decided to give my car a gift.
METH. Also got some Enkei racing rims on toyo proxe 4's and a carbon fiber 1ga hood. I soon after started protecting it with a sheet of DEI gold heat reflecting tape. It seemed to actually work well.
I also found a wicked deal on a set of Tein coilovers. Sure changed the ride quality for the better!

After a solid year of driving, I decided it was time for a serious tune. So I added a pre turbo methanol nozzle and hit the heartbreak dyno at Racing Greed (mustang dyno)
The car put down 333 awhp and 295ftlbs without methanol.
Once I added meth I was getting tiny pop occasionally up top. It seemed to be hard to tune and the car started to make power after fiddling with the cam gears.. but we noticed there was an issue. The car was making almost the EXACT same hp WITH methanol. 337 awhp and 298ftlbs.
I decided to call it a day and take the car home and investigate.
What I found would make almost any one of us cry before looking an further..
I found the problem.
- The crank bolt had worked itself loose and the woodruff key actually ate its way around the inside of the crank sprocket groove AND the back timing plate.
The woodruff key was almost a 1/4 turn away from where it should be in the crank sproket and timing plate. This meant that my crank was out of phase by a 1/4 turn!!!!! After a lot of pacing,
I decided to just get a new sprocket and back timing plate and time the motor with finger crossed.
I was the luckiest man ever. Once the timing was complete I did a compression test. 160 160 160 160

Thats how lucky.
About a month later I decided that it was time to throw the car on the heartbreaker again and see what kind of power I could squeeze out of it with meth.
TWO days before the car was going on the dyno, I started noticing a problem. The oil catch can was filling up way quicker than normal. Damn you blow-by.
It got a lot worse and quickly... I decided to change plans.
