I guess Im just under the impression that a built motor w/ forged internalls wont last that long. Is that the case or am I just getting the wrong idea. I guess what I'm trying to ask is, will the motor I want (ross/crower) go as many miles as your set up?
But for the most part in a daily driven motor a cast motor will usually wear a little better then a forged motor. I am a huge fan of the big rod 2g piston motor its substantially cheaper than a ross crower motor and its good enough for most people. I spent 1500 for my balanced, hot tanked , 91 rod 95 overbored piston motor. I would think you would spent closer to 2500+ for a similar Ross\Crower. For your particular needs moderate amount of power on pump gas, rarely raced etc I think you would enjoy a 91 rod 95 piston motor more.Originally posted by rdrkt
: Most people will blow their motor or sell the car before they ever hit 50k miles.
I have said several times that I would only do the 91 rod 95 piston (cheap) or the Ross\crower motor (best). When my car was still doing the street car thing my motor fit my needs great. Now that I want to step up and make 550+, move to a weekend warrior duty, I am going to a 4g64 that uses ross\crower. Hope this helps and not confuses you more.
