Since I received my turbo in March, I've slowly been collecting the rest of the parts...and they've all finally managed to trickle their way here :D

As of last night I got the turbo and downpipe mounted, oil feed and return lines primed and installed, and some other little tune-up items I went ahead and purchased. My BEGi/Cartech FMU has been installed for awhile now, as well as my boost and oil pressure gauges. The big snag I came across was the darn fuel pump! After I relieved the pressure in the fuel system, I pulled off the rubber return line, but couldn't break loose the hard line  When I finally felt it turning some, I realized it was the actual fuel line itself bending and twisting OMG It really pissed me off and I was tired, so I ended up passing out in the back seat ROFL I'm gonna mess with it some more when I get home from work...any ideas? Well, once that's done it's down to fabbing up my IC piping, and then I should be boooooosting.

Pics will be posted once I get back home and the fuel pump makes me cry some more

mine as the same way so I got some tin snips and cut some of the sheet metal and foled it back just enough where i could get the fuel pump out. There are some pics in FAQS,com i think trhat is the website. It is for the gs-t fuel pump removal but the fuel pumps are hooked up the same way. hope this helps

So, I finally got it all done and got her running this morning. I ended up just breaking the hard line to fuel pump and cutting the fitting off the fuel line to clamp it on directly. Started up and idles great...just no boost :( I can't seem to get past 10 vacuum (seems like I wasn't the only one with this prob recently LOL). The car definitely feels slower, there's just no power there. Whether I barely get on it or if I'm at WOT, no difference. Haven't had time to check anything, seeing as I finished this morning like 10 minutes before I had to be at work haha. I guess it's time to start checking for vac leaks or possibly my wastegate being stuck open would cause this?

check for boost leaks and your wastegate. if it's stuck open then it will hurt your boost. make sure you couplers are tight. also take your intake pipe off(going to your turbo) and make sure your turbo spins.

Oh, the turbo is definitely spooling...I just don't get any boost

Would a partially open wastegate cause me to be stuck at 10 vacuum? Seems to me like it would just keep me from reaching full boost or somethin like that. It's like I hit the wall at that point, not fuel cut or anything like that, just no power.

Both boost gauge and bov are tapped into brake booster line, but I don't really see a problem with that. All connections seems to be good, and a boost leak would limit me not necessarily keep me in vacuum period?

you might have a leak. build a boost leak tester. I had a link, but I can't find it so I'll tell you how to make one.

Go to home depot and get a PVC end cap 2" diameter. then get a air line hook up, like for an air tool. get a tap thats the same thread as the hook up and tap the end of the cap. Make sure you put tefflon tape on the treads, you don't want the tester leaking.

Basically your making a hook up to use an aircompressor to put air in your system. Take the coupling off the turbo and put your tester in the silicon sleeve. Hook up your air line and set your compressor for 20psi. When you let the air into the system you will hear any leaks. Make sure your TB is open or the air is going to go out the BOV. Leaks can happen at any coupling, TB, Vac line, Boost gauge (air line and gauge itself), or Intake manifold. After you test it at 20psi, do it again at 30psi. This will make absolutly sure you don't have any leaks. Good luck.

yeah, I'm gonna have to do that.

something is definitely wrong, the car is sooooooooooooo slow. I was like topping out at 65mph yesterday, and I had absolutely no power at all, I could have gotten beaten by an 85 1.3l civic or some somethin. and to make it worse, the cel came on at some point last night too. I hadn't slept in like 3 days and I finally passed out on the living room floor...so I'm just now waking up from that. as soon as I fully get up, I've gotta figure out wtf is wrong with her :(

EDIT: she's not running rough or anything like that, just no power at all....i'm curious if my son's fisher price power wheels 4-wheeler would pull on me

welcome to my world. I had so many bugs to work out when I got done with my motor and turbo. And just when I get it running perfect... my brand new timing belt snaps. Freaking GoodYear timing belts!

heck yeah, talk about disappointing and depressing. well, I'm still in the process of waking up, but I'm gonna get some food in my belly, then i'm headed out the the garage to begin the troubleshooting process. I'm gonna take some more pictures too, just to see if you guys notice something that might not be sticking out to me.

Thanks man.

I've got some errands to run at the moment, then a date with the wifey LOLz...after that I'll be back home to troubleshoot. Gonna try preloading the wastegate some, see if that helps. Check for the leaks, and put my midpipe on since i'm running open downpipe right now.

Keep the suggestions coming :rocks:

Just got home from movies with wifey...time to work on the car WOOT

I can hear the fuel pump running, and it was just a connector that plugged in...so I think it's right. The fmu has been in the car for months, it should be working as well. I thought I've read that plenty of people used the brake booster, so I just figured it was ok. It's the biggest vacuum source there, what else do you guys use? So, I should tap my compressor housing? I have a 95, therefore I shouldn't need a fcd/missing link. It doesn't feel like fuel cut or running rough, so I don't think that's the problem. I haven't been out to the car yet, so I hadn't had a chance to do the key dance yet hehe. I'm hoping it's something as simple as the wastegate, so that's what I'll check first. Still love to hear all the suggestions and ideas, TIA :dsm:

EDIT: checked cel...upstream o2 sensor. I'm running open downpipe, so I would think that's why that code was thrown. Time to go put the midpipe on LOL

as far as a tap for your boost gauge or bov i used the egr line and put a tee in it. if you don't have curise you should have a extra source on the back of the intake mani.

for a positive pressure source you can also tap the ic pipes. i use that for my wastegate and it works fine. you can get a steel bushing from home depot and weld it to the pipe. then just screw in the correct size barb fitting and there you go.

seems to me like the gauge is working. it's not like it's staying in vacuum while i'm boosting...i have no boost  it worked fine the month or so it was in the car before the turbo install, it would go up to zero just fine.

wtf is wrong with my car

Take the filter off the turbo and rev the car up at the throttle body so that you can watch the fins inside the turbo and see if it moves in there and if it speeds up. Try to rev it a few times fast and then hold it for a second and let off right before redline and see if the bov looks like it is trying to open any. Also check your oil feed line to make sure its getting oil to the turbo.

I could hear the turbo spooling nice and loud yesterday when I drove around, but it's upsetting me and i'm up to any suggestions. I'll head out there and check the fins spinning right now......

Yeah, man I am just really trying to think of what in the world could be wrong, I know how it is to have problems and not be able to figure out what it is and be running out of ideas. My ideas are probably not the best, but hey its something to check, I will keep thinking though...

just checked, and it does spool up just fine and speeds up when I give it gas.

don't know what to check now :(

take off the intercooler pipe at the throttle body and rev it up and see if it pushes out some are at the end of the pipe.

Well, this is a long long long long shot, but your intercooler doesn't have any type of check valve or anything like that does it? Or for some reason may it be directional?

is my bov supposed to have suction. i'm running an ssqv, and it's sucking in air at idle, and if you cover it up the car bogs down to the point of dying. gonna try and put my buddies pipe with greddy bov on it and see it it's any different. intercooler is not directional, and bov is sucking in air which would make me think air is flowing through the fmic, gonna try that taking last pipe off before tb to check air flow
