My idle surge has been really bad, but i just got done rebuilding the TB, and it runs good, but the surge starts sooner, now. Before, it would start after it warmed up. But now, it starts just a couple minutes after warm up. But its a lot slower. maybe once a few seconds. Also, i tried to hold the throttle in open partially with my hand(constantly, so it would hold a constat rev) but it seems to just cut out, like surge. Until you give it a few quick revs, then it will actually rev high. I finished testing my ISC, and all the pins read 28-29 Ohms. Some of them dont go over 28.8, and others are at 30 ohms. I hooked up the 6V battery to the terminals of the ISC, but i think im looking in the wrong spot for the motor. Is it on top of where the throttle cable connects? or is it the ISC itself, like i have to take it out of the throttle body to check it? thanks

i just got back from the salvage yard, and they wont sell me the ISC by itself. I have to buy the whole TB for 125$, but its old and crappy, so i dont think im doing that. I took it for a drive today, and when i tried to give it gas, it would just surge, and not go anywhere, but until i reved it a few quick times, then it would finally go. Im thinkin of just seein if anyone has a 1g Turbo TB for sale. If you do, PM me.

Might wanna make sure your ECU hasn't crapped out on you before you drop $. I had all kinds of idle issues before i replaced my ecu

how do you suppose i check that? i can run diagnostics on it at my school with our scan tool. Will that tell me if the ecu is bad?

its not that hard at all really. In my car I can just remove the center console panel on the passenger side of the car. That is, if you were sitting in the passenger seat, the panel near the radio that is next to your left leg. The ECU sits kinda below and behind the radio. However you may have to remove your center console. Not hard either just takes a bit of time. The ECU is mounted with a couple of screws and of course the wires. There usually isnt a lot of free play with the wires so be careful you dont damage your connectors.

Here is a step by step with some pictures

Once you have it out, pop it open and look for any obvious signs that the board is damaged by leaking capacitors and such.

If you have any doubts about damage to it, post some extreme closeups and I'm sure someone here will help. Some other signs to watch for but are not 100% indicitive of ECU damage is a weird smell, hard to describe really. If someone can help me with describing it who knows what im talking about, thanks. Also, you might hear a rapid clicking sound coming from behind the radio area.
