Ok, this problem is taking entirely too long... My intake cam gear ate a rag, and my belt slipped a couple teeth. After a tiring timing belt install and compression check, everything checked out ok. When I tried to start it, it idled VERY rough and only for a couple seconds. Kind of like a knock or a VERY low idle/vibration. My question is: Behind my cam gear, connected to the cam gear, is a piece of metal that is flowered off into 3 or so pieces that protrude out. When the rag got caught, it bent it all to hell, and I tried to straighten it a little so that the limbs wouldn't smack anything as it did after it got bent. Does this piece of metal have any significance??? It seems like it would since it is behind the intake and not the exhaust gear, and the CAS is apparently behind the intake gear. Help?
