Use it if you dont like wasting money. Will preform the same after it is mechined as it would new. It is not broken. If it needs .0006 or less of mechineing its not going to make a difference and is not going to make a flywheel "brake or fall apart.
and im the guy with a scatter shield too.Heat checking and stress risers. Overheating the surface of the flywheel can cause the surface to crack before it can successfully carry the heat through the forging. Further mis-use will exacerbate the condition, and once you have a crack, it will tend to grow and grow. If they're shallow enough, it may be possible to machine them and the damaged area clean, but flywheels are just too cheap and too crucial to fiddly-dick around with.I guess I don't get how a piece of solid steel explodes without any chemicals.

Thats not the greatest pic, but, you kinda dead on with the concept. After all that you could have a bought a new flyhweel. In this case, I suggest getting a Fidanza flywheel, any question about the contact surface has a $80 solution. However, Fidanza flywheels are more of a Road Race flywheel then drag race. You know this statement could be the cause of a death to whoever is sitting in the passenger seat? Did you miss the part about how an exploding flywheel can and will try to cut the car in half. Im sure someone can post a couple of video links to show the carnage because it has been discussed her before.
Those cracks are very evident in the pic which are more than .006" deep. The only way I would use it is first to magnaflux the backside(engine side) of the flywheel. If it shows any cracks, trash it. If it looks good, surface it and then magnaflux the disc surface. If it shows any cracks that seemed to disappear with the surface job, trash it. If all is good, reuse it. After you spent all the $ to do this, you could have purchased a new flywheel.
Being a machinist, I can tell you that those cracks are pretty extreme and may disappear visually when it is resurfaced but will probably still show themselves when magged.
