is this a bad idea?

Im almost done with my custom exhaust for my gst, but it routes underneath the gas tank and then has a angle for the muffler, i made a bend so it goes underneath without hitting it and coated it in some hi temp paint. should i be okay?

Im not experienced with GST's but as long as the exhaust isnt going to scrape on the ground you should be fine.

Also you might wanna think about some custom heat shields for under your gas tank. Better safe then sorry. I could just picture an eclipse on the side of the road on fire hahaha

thanks man thats what i needed, it fits, it hangs just as low as the part that goes underneath the axle on the regular exhaust. I think im just going to lay a few more coats of hi temp paint and maybe paint the gas tank?

If you where wondering if it was going to catch your fuel tank on fire....dont worry about it you will be fine.

I believe that is a great idea.

Im not sure why 400hp93talon above me thinks theres no chance for fire.
With enough heat anything can catch on fire. Theres a reason why the stock GST exhaust goes above the gas tank. I would bet theres a heat shield or something above up there that protects from any chance of fire.

there is like a thick heatshield on it, seems to be okay, but it would be pretty hard for exhaust thats painted and heatwrapped heat threw a heatshield, bunch of metal and get to the gas. no way, exhaust cant get hot enought on these cars to do that, thats what i think.

Just saying with out all the heat protection your taking, there is still a risk.

Im sure if you WERE making big power the exhaust could get hot enough.
But enough of this what if game.
