Is this a 1G cupholder?

I know it sounds stupid, but i just got one cheap from ebay, and it seems big. I can close the lid and it doesn't fit. I was just wondering if someone could post a pic of it installed, or describe the "special" way to install it.

Are you sure it's a 1g cup holder? Can you post a pic of it?

In both of our 1g's, 93 Laser and 91 GST. The cup holder is recessed into the arm rest. There should be a small slot for misc bs and then the 2 holes for the cups. The slot for the bs goes towards the drivers seat. Hope I made sense and helped. If not I can post a pic for you.

Ok, I guess i can do some trimming, maybe it will fit...I was told it was from a 93 eclipse, shouldn't it fit a 93 laser?

Maybe I'm wrong. But I don't think that's a 1g cup holder. The top of the "cup holding" holes is higher than the cup holder in our 93 Laser. See in the pic. The tops of the holders are further down in the holder assembly. And there is a little notch between the 2 of them. It is like this on the cup holder in my Eclipse too. Also you shouldn't have to do any trimming to make it fit.

Yeah... I got screwed on that one too... but i bought it with a bunch of other parts that were the real thing so... Whatever, buyer beware I guess.

That may be a 1g cupholder, but for the consoles without armrests. The really really base 1gs didn't have a flip-up armrest, but still had a slide out cupholder, only the area it fit in was a little larger.

Consoles without the armrests didn't come with cupholders of any variety - unless it was a dealer accessory (not to mention a slide-out one that no other DSM has ever had). If you ask me for proof - I've been with my 1.8 Eclipse since it left the dealership in May 1992 - no cupholders.

My 2G had a tray like that in the armrest though - even though it had the in-dash cupholder next to ashtray, it also had the tray.

I can honestly say that is a 1g cupholder from a car with no armrest. I have seen only one in my time, I think it was in a 92 talon dl but I cant be sure.

Yep its a 1G cup holder for a center console that doenst have the armrest. They made 2 consoles. I had the center console without the armrest, and swapped it for the kind with the armrest, and for a cleaner look i used the shifter pad without the (notch) for the release on the armrest,its a little tight but you can release it easy enough without the finger notch.
