Hi all, this is my first post and I apologize if this post is in the wrong area or has been answered before. I searched best I could but could not quite find a answer to my question. I have been looking for a 2g gsx or gst and came across a 95 gsx manual owned by an older man for the past 80,000 miles. I have not checked it out myself yet, but planned on doing so in tomorrow. He has said it has been maintained great, that the turbo spools great and the only issue is the oil pan needs replaced which he has the replacement. He says it has been maintained very well, shifts strong and awd works fine. The mileage is 190,000. I always have wanted a 2g that I could modify as I get the money. I plan on using it as a daily driver and would probably not begin to modify till a few months down the road. My question is with this kind of mileage is it pointless for me to get it with not being able to modify it till down the road? I guess i see myself going to modify it at like 210,000, finish modifying at like 225,000, is what I am thinking about kind of pointless? I know I probably would need to do some rebuilding/replacing, but am I kind of trying to do too much too late with this gsx? Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice you can offer. By the way the car is $1600.

well thats kind of what ive talked him down to at this point I dont think I can get him any farther. He ignored my offer for awhile but recently contacted me saying he'd be willing

he SAYS that it runs great and is in overall great condition...i will be the first to admit I am a dsm noob but have done my best to begin educating myself on them since I know nobody who is close to being an expert on them...anyways like I said he said that the turbo spools great, it shifts great, interior is fine and awd operates fine. theres no significant body damage at all, minor dents n scratches, the usual with a 95 vehicle.

not yet, I am going by to check it out tomorrow tho. Taking the best mechanic I know personally with me. If it checks out as decent, do you feel it is an appropriate vehicle for what I would like to do with a 2g?

thank you for your help, I really didnt have much confidence about going after it up to this point and my mechanic is a big domestic man and will probably find as much flaws as he can with it. I just didnt want to pick up a vehicle that would be pointless to mod and try to enjoy to 250,000+. I know I would probably have to do some replacing and maybe an engine swap down the road or something but just was looking for some advice from the knowledgeable ppl here.

Well everyone wants a 2g gsx, they're getting harder and harder to find. If you have the patience and don't care to put some blood sweat and tears into it then it's definitely an awesome car, if not let someone else know about it and it will be gone within the week guaranteed.

EDIT: Also if it still has the stock turbo on it then the compression is probably pretty good as long as maintenance was done, the motor should be able to handle some abuse still. If it's modded out the wazoo (which it probably isn't) that's usually a sign not to get too involved, but even so, for the price you really can't beat it.

yea theres zero mods on it, and the owner said they just had a full tune up done on it. I am prepared to hold onto it for awhile and give it the time and dedication it will need, especially as the funds come in for it. I guess my first sign that it was maybe a decent deal was when i saw a 95 shell gsx in the classifieds for the same price.

yes I have definitely already learned that much LOL. All my money will initially go into maintenance and the things along those lines to make sure my platform is solid...again part of where my initial question came from...am I wasting my time?

i would definately go for it, you cant beat the price. besides if someting happens you could always part it out for a bit more

thanks...I couldnt check it out today but I am going by for sure tomorrow morning. Looking forward to my new daily driver!
