I have recently taken apart this 14b turbo and noticed that is had a coking problem.
The plate, and the chra (mostly where the plate goes) had alot of carbon which I managed to clean up and what is seems to spin free.

The Question Now: The wheelhas scratches from the contact and the chra has some coking inside the hole above where the journal bearing goes, a thick wall allround where I suppose oil travels. Stupid question but should I brake that thick wall of carbon ??

If the 14B is questionable, don't bother putting any effort into it. They're pretty cheap to buy from other DSMers. Or you could just upgrade to a new 16G. Perhaps you can refer back to this thread for some useful info.

I would rebuild it. I've rebuilt turbos for customers that were in much worse condition than that one and they worked fine. Just be sure to get ALL of the coked oil carbon off of the shield and out from around the bearing journal of the CHRA!
