Is there anything special about a 95 GSX?

Are 95's anything special? I've heard them to be the 2g to buy? Is this true? Or would you prefer the 97-99 models? Only reason i'm asking is because I may have my hands on my second gsx, and it happens to be a 95. I was wondering if the 95's had anything beneficial to them. and if its even worth buying? I have yet to see the car but it looks clean and unfortunately can't get pics uploaded.

Agreed with all of the above. Think about your goals and what you plan to do its the motor. If you are going to do a 6 bolt swap or not and plan accordingly. I would definitely be weary if you are going to put some power through it and keep the 7 bolt. Good luck either way.

I would get it and keep it stock for a reliable DD while building up the other.

^^^definitely the best idea given so far.:hellyeah: dont waste your money on the 2GB conversion if you already have a 2GB. keep the 95 as is and mod the 99 with the "stronger" 7 bolt with the split thrust bearing.

how much did it cost you to do the 2g conversion?

Depends where you buy the bumpers from, if you need to paint them, etc. Best bet may be looking on craigslist for partouts for front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper. It's about $120 for a new oem bumper online. I also spray parts myself. The wing is the easiest to find and cheapest. Also, if you're going to be putting a knew motor into it, I wouldn't go with a 6 bolt because it'll be more expensive and just not worth it IMO. Don't get wrapped up in thoe whole crank walk shit.

Since you already have a 2gb, I agree with the others that said just keep it as is or nearly stock and drive it while you build the other one. I wish I could have another DSM to drive when I'm working on my current one, but I can't afford that right now so consider yourself lucky haha.

yes everyone right with keeping a DD however I alrdy have a DD... So this car what just be a build up. Along with the 2g. The 2g alrdy has a 6bolt swap and its annoying as hell to do it. I was looking to buy it and build it up a little bit like 300whp with the stock motor in it. not anything obnoxious. It just seemed a heck of a price for a completely stock gsx.

Only things I don't like about my early 1994 built 95 is it has less tire clearance to the knuckles and the rear brake rotors/calipers are different so you're stuck keeping the rotors oem unless you switch to newer calipers and brackets. They changed the design in Sept of 94 I believe so just putting that out there. Take a look at the build date in the door jam.

hey guys I'm having a problem with my car, and you two are the only ones I see know about the early 94/95s. I have a question, is there a way to convert the whole rear end over to a later model for ease of finding parts, or does it take alot of fab work/ custom modification? Also do you guys have a good spot for parts for the rear end of these cars? thanks for the help

Jon

Everything is special about a 95!! There Awesome! I happened to get EVERYTHING with mine. Eprom, Vented Rears, LSD. I was happy.

Def. check the build date on the 95's - the early 95's do have parts that are specific to them - such as timing belt tensioner. I'm am currently researching something to verify if yet something else is different on some early 95 models.

As far as the rear brakes go they do have the larger vented rotor/caliper combo, but I'm pretty sure there not evo III brakes. The caliper might be but I thought that the early evo's all had a 4 bolt wheel thus the rotor couldn't be the exact same one. There are some vendors that sell the early 95 rear rotors in slotted etc. applications - you just have to look for them.

Well lets see.. I have 98 gsx black and tan interior, I have a 2gb front bumper, 2ga talon twisties, 2ga rear bumper, plus everything the 95 had to offer. I was even blessed with slate blue leather for the factory.. My car had the S in the VIN so i got every option you could get
