Is there anything special about a 95 GSX?

Are 95's anything special? I've heard them to be the 2g to buy? Is this true? Or would you prefer the 97-99 models? Only reason i'm asking is because I may have my hands on my second gsx, and it happens to be a 95. I was wondering if the 95's had anything beneficial to them. and if its even worth buying? I have yet to see the car but it looks clean and unfortunately can't get pics uploaded.

EPROM ECU bro.. Thats like the only thing I can think of other than the 2ga body.

95's have eproms mostly.
98-99 have flashable ecus

95-96 have the cams angle sensor on the gear side of the head.
97-99 have the came angle sensor on the same side as a 1g making it easier to do a 6-bolt swap.

late 98s and the 99s are less prone to crank walk due to new thrust bearing designs.

The 96-96 have the same style bumpers and side skirts.

The 97-99s have a different style bumpers and side skirts from the 95-96.

Also introduced new wing options on 97-99s

Also I have read there is a difference between the 95-96 and 97-99 transmissions and t-case.

Its pretty easy to find out if it does. And also it comes with the Twistie wheels LOL and also yeah what he said ^^^^ :D

Its up to you on the eprom vs flashable. I put an eprom out of a 95 awd and am replacing it with a 98 flashable.

EPROM: you can have it socketed and run either a chip or DSM Link (I recomend link over a chip I have personally meet Tom Dorris and seen his software. Great sutff).

Flashable: Buy a $100 cable and get Ceddy Modd (don't forget to throw Ceddy a few bucks for all the hard work he has put in) you can tune, not a much support as link nor does it have the options that link has.

I hope one day to be able to have run both link and ceddy mod in my car one day (not at the same time of course). But for now I am going to go what is cheaper for me. The 98 ecu didn't cost me a dime.

Oh I know man. The later 2g ECU's come hella cheap because people think nothing of them and everyone wants a damn 95 EPROM:nono:

It did cost me a 2.02 maft and 3" gm maf, a 6-bolt short block with bad bearings, and a few other odds and ends.

But I also recived a set of used TIEN basic coil overs 2g mani ceramic coated with a egt bung and egt probe and gauge. And a few other odds and ends.

I want a tactrix openport cable for $100!!!

I am referring to the Chinese cable that you can buy off of ebay. Not familiar with tactrix. After doing some looking into tactrix I found my error the cable I was referring to was only for logging. Not for reflashing. The flashing tactrix cable is more expensive.

Another thing worth noting is that 1995's are great for is dodging harsh emissions testing. Emissions testing is not required on pre-96 vehicles here in Missouri, and I would imagine it's the same elsewhere.

Thanks for beating me to it Redturboeclipse... LOL

Only things I don't like about my early 1994 built 95 is it has less tire clearance to the knuckles and the rear brake rotors/calipers are different so you're stuck keeping the rotors oem unless you switch to newer calipers and brackets. They changed the design in Sept of 94 I believe so just putting that out there. Take a look at the build date in the door jam.

Yes, that's a great deal IMO. Just do a 2gb body conversion like me
the nice thing about the 95 is it is exempt from OBDII testing, so it doesnt matter if you have check engine lights or the obdii checks are not ready.

nice if this is crucial for your smog.
wow wow wow if i can skip emission inspection in NJ because of this im removing my 2 high flow cats >:D.... ifk if they work seeing as i can smell gas if i park after a drive or if i rev my engine. i know gas isent in my exhaust because it is like smelling fumes from a dirt bike
