Is there a way to turn off the CEL?

Hey guys quick question I keep getting a code 44 on my car and there seems to be no real reason for it. Im not alone in this, as I've searched and searched and everybody who gets this code can't seem to figure it out. My last recorse is to just turn the light off, but is there a way to do that?

I never heard of that code. You can buy a 1g datalogger cable and a dirt cheap palm. There are many different programs available online that will allow you to check cel codes and erase them. If you dont want to go that route, going to the dealer or disconnecting your battery will turn off the cel but it it will more than likely come back if you dont fix the real problem.

Just go to autozone, they will check it and run it through thier system, and the person who checks it can turn it off.

The car runs perfect with the light on but I just want for it to go away. Could I just take the bulb from behind the light? Or what else could I do?

I already know what code Im getting but Im having the same problem that many on here who have gotten this code are having: We seem to be getting this code for no legitimate reason.

when searching for the code, what is it? you can take out the bulb but keep in mind you may have a CEL for more then one reason, now or in the future, so i wouldnt recommend it.

old thread, but you can cut the CEL wire at the ECU...........no one recommends it, and neither do I, but thats one way to "make it go away"........at least to your eyes...

If you a re doing something wrong or something is wrong causing the cel to come on, then fix the problem and it will go out and stay out when you disconnect the battery. If its on from a modification to your car and everything is well, just take the bulb out.

Sorry its an old thread but does anyone have a write up on this? I want to take out the bulb or cut the wire (whatever is easier) but if I had some intruction on how to do so it would help a lot. Thanks guys

Horrible instructions. There should be no reason to get rid of the CEL. Fix whatever is wrong with your car or get a logger to erase the light.
