Vancouver,
As the title says..

Towing company lost my keys and my OEM keyless entry/ alarm remote. If I lock my doors manually the alarm arms and when I go back to open my door with my key the alarm goes off.

I dont know how to turn the alarm off, sometimes it turns off if I turn the car on and off a few times? LOL I just stopped locking my door to prevent this. Probably not the best idea. So is there a valet switch somewhere? Is there a fuse I can pull do make the alarm not go off so that I can at least lock my doors at night?

How much is it to get a new remote thing at Mitsubishi? Probably rape me for it. Towing company are being dicks about it.

well a quick way to turn off the alarm is to put the key into the door lock and lock/unlock the door. It will turn it off right away. Now you problems with the remote key, take your car to the dealership have them get you a replacement and then send the bill to the towing company. :thumb: :talon:

sorry for jacking the post but i figured this post is pretty much done with anyway but i just got my 98 gst and it didnt come with a remote but im not sure if my car has the factory alarm. I think it might because when i lock the doors a green security light comes on in the dash does this mean i have a stock alarm? also did the factory alarm have remote entry? thanks

Original Post: If the alarm is going off when you unlock your driver's door with the key, then it sounds like you have a bigger problem than just the missing remote. Twisting the key in the driver's door is how you're supposed to disarm the alarm and turn it off if it's already going off. As far as the remote. I got a replacement a few years ago and it was around 50 bucks from the dealer for the part and for them to set it.

Crazyjoker777: Yes, the green light in the dash means you have a factory alarm, or it should at least.. The factory alarm should have remote entry, yes.

Ok so the clarify, my alarm is supposed to disable when I use my keys to manually open/ unlock the door.

If that is correct, its not happening. Unless theres some special way of twisting the key LOL.. I never really thought about it, I know that I have tried it a couple times and it just goes off.

Does anyone know why the alarm will go off if I turn the car on/ off a few times? Sometimes it turns off which is nice, other times it just stays on for like a few minutes. Worst case senario I guess I could pull the battery so its dead then plug the wires back on the battery? LOL this is so dumb.. Im just going to go to the dealer this week.

Yes. Mine only works in the driver's side though. If I open the passenger side door for my lady with the alarm armed, it goes off, but then it turns off when I twist the key in the driver's door.

Im just going to go to the dealer this week.

Probably the best thing to do..

To test it, roll down the window and lock the car. Give it two minutes or so to arm, then reach in and unlock the door using the lock lever. The alarm should go off in a few seconds.

For programming and FCC ID# for the remote:
