is there a fix for loose door hinge?

when i open my d/s door it drops about a half inch or so. and when you close it you have to lift the door up a little or else the door wont shut right. i thought about just lowering the latch (strike plate) a little but then the door wont line up right and the line of the body would be off. so today i took off the fender hoping it was just loose. nope. i adjusted it for a hour and Finally got it to close but now it doesnt line up with the fender all the way. i am on the hunt for some new hinges at the junk yard and c/l but is there anyway to fix these hinges?

Used to happen on all the older model cars. There should be a pin connecting the hinges and usually 2 bronze bushings. Knock the C clip off the bottom, hammer up on the pin, replace the bushings. Problem solved unless you've worn the hole into an oval.

+1 on replacing the bushings and while you are there put new pins in.

Take the fender off, loosen the bolts that connect the door to the car, jack the door up, torque bolts down, check gap.

Also check your door lock, the piece that sticks out from the door jamb. If it has a groove cut in it you'll need to replace it.
