hey everyone, i was wondering if theres any way that i can check if theres oil going in to my turbo...i just got my head rebuilt and added a balance shaft elimination kit, its all installed the head gets oil fine, but i turned it on to let it run for a little bit, and i imagine it had oil in to begin with but then i started to hear somethin like grinding somewhere around the exhaust, i took the valve cover off to make sure that both the cams where getting oil, and they are, i have no idea what this could be, nothing fell in to the turbo so i know its nothing grinding (i had it covered the whole time the exhaust manifolds where taken off)...

Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Diego G.

When you eliminated the balance shafts, did you rotate the bearings for the front shaft 180 degrees to block off the oil passage?

i was told if i left the old balance shaft in there that it wouldnt matter...

hmm why would u do that... personally i removed them and rotated the new bearings 180*

i took the balance shaft off that was in function with the oil pump, now the front one was left in there, since i was told that it would be ok so i wouldnt lose any oil pressure or have to worry about doing work to it...but about the turbo is there any way i can check?

If you leave the front shaft in, then turning the bearing isn't necessary. The bearings are turned in the absence of that shaft so that oil pressure is maintained.

Have you checked your turbo for free spin and excessive shaft play?

it worked perfectly fine before the timing belt snapped and the head messed up...i just honestly dont think its getting oil...

OK heres the deal...i took the intake off...n spun the turbo and i didnt hear a thing at all...just quiet...but when i turn it on...thats when it starts acting up...and its like a grinding noise...and it stops and when it does it squeaks real hard...any one have any idea?

Sounds to me like the problem is elsewhere. If your turbo wasn't getting oil, it would be hosed by now.
