Ok I've been trying to find out why I'm getting fuel cut. Car came without a boost gauge but mbc. Dangerous not knowing what you're running on an EVO III 16g...more dangerous to come and find out it's basically running 20psi plus.

*Installed gauge today. Drove car. Boost is way high and shows no signs of being controlled at all. MBC adjustments do nothing at all. Back the screw all the way out...nothing but super high boost still. The screw was originally all the way in (thus maxing the mbc's setting to the highest possible...another not so good thing to find).

So here's my MBC's routing. Is it f'd up or am I crazy? Should I change how the previous owner has it routed and hope that's the cause or is it likely the whole MBC is just crap.

Yeah I would definitely change that setup, the best way is the simplest- run a line from the turbo to the MBC, then from the MBC to the MGA. if you still can't control boost after that then your MBC is screwed

Yeah I didnt think he had this thing setup correctly. I'll have to tap the Jpipe which kinda sucks but oh well.

Also both of my boost gauges in the car work...is there something I'm supposed to disconnect for that? Or is that normal?

Yeah stock and aftermarket are both going. If it's not a problem then I'll just leave it.

Hook your boost source (compressor housing, j pipe, etc.) to the bottom of the MBC.
Hook the wastegate up to the side of the MBC.
Have NOTHING teed into the BOV line.

This topic has been beaten to death. Please search next time.

Ah and the "search" reply makes its appearance. I did seach, but with the amount of "T's" I have in this setup I felt the need to diagram it and post. Not everyones situations are the same, and yes I searched.

Nope, not a problem at all. Just never look at the stock one since it sucks.

Where did you tape for the aftermarket one? The FPR line is the suggested place to tee into.

Cool...well tomorrow when it's light out again, I'm gonna try tapping the Jpipe and rerouting some stuff. I'll plug the BOV into the ECI spot (eliminating one of the T's) and then I'll run the WG/Jpipe MBC setup.

What is ECI (either I've never heard of it or just drawing a big blank)?

I think I might be reverting back to my 3S days on that one...there was "ECI" stamped on the bov recirc area. I dont know what the hell we call it here.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Trace that vacuum line to wherever the other end is and let me know. As I said earlier, there should be NOTHING teed into the bov vacuum line to the intake manifold.

I'm not crazy....

Whoever installed the MBC initially had no idea what they were doing. So I get to go fix it all. I'll have to find a new spot to get the boost gauge hose to read from since it's reading from the bov atm.

My BOV line just goes to BOV and somewhere under the intake thats it nothing tapped into it, thats how it should be..

I think they hooked it up like that because its a good reading and its ok for other cars but not DSM's

No just the BOV line does it goes under the intake somewhere with it nothing tapped into it, just by itself, your MBC is separate and has nothing to do with BOV line

Lol - well it should have nothing to do with my bov line. I know the bov doesnt need to be tapped in to anything...I need to physically tap my Jpipe tho for the MBC...unless there's another place to plug in that I dont know of.

Yeah it appears to be an aftermarket Jpipe. By visual inspection in the dusk there's no nipple on it. Sucks that I gotta try to tear that sucker out tomorrow.

I do have to actually remove the Jpipe right? because there'll be some metal shavings.
