Is my engine about to crank walk?

Ok about a month ago I was driving at about 35mph and heard a knocking in the engine, but it went away. And after other complications found I had a blown head gasket. Well after waiting for my parts and warm weather we got the cometic head gasket put on with arp studs. We cranked the car and it ran good. Took it out for a test drive and turned left into walmart and heard the same knocking even worse it was beating, then stopped, this happened to more times while turning left and onetime wiht the clutch in turning left from a stop..

Is the crank moving causing the knocking? If it was a rod wouldnt it be knocking all of the time?

How many miles are on it? Most 2g cars crankwalk but 80k, but mine is at 120k and im still good.

The best way to know is to check you crank end play. To do this you need to measure the amount that the crank moves from front (of the engine not of the car) to back. The best thing to do however is to pull the oil pan and have a look see. Chances are pretty good you'll know if something is up as soon as you get the pan off. Good luck---Jon

well ive never messed witha bottom end, what would i be looking for? My crank pulley doesnt spin off center. and it WOULD move back and forth if i used my hands, and it did move enough to crack two different timing covers... but none the less the bottom end was knocking so loud it was scaring me i thought my exhaust was beating the ground

oil pressure is dead on. hasnt ever varied through this whole situation right where she supposed to be

Well i have to say if shes knocking hard on the bottom end, your going to be up the creek, 6 bolt time.

i was pulling out onto the street and pushed the clutch in and the car went blurp and just died on me... and my idle is at 500rpms instead of 850 and wont idle. and still making the rod knocking noise during some left turns

Doesn't the above alone hint at very bad things happening to the bottom end? Does NOT sound good to me at all.
