I have A Greddy style type s blow off valve. everything was great and today I went for a drive and noticed I was only holding between 14-17lbs of boost when I normally hold a solid 20.6lbs. My blow off valve also is very quiet and sometimes when letting off the gas you cannot hear anything at all... This makes me think its either stuck open or closed. I am running Speed density so it should be very loud because it is circulated. I am pretty confidant this is the problem but not 100% sure. I will be pulling the diaphragm out later and check when I have more time.

First check the vac lines.
Then (car running) check to see if the BOV is closed when idling, revving up, and then only opens when the throttle is let off.
If its opening, when its not supposed to, the spring may be getting weak.

Its been raining pretty good here the last few days, I'm just waiting for it to be nice and I will be doing a boost leak test. I think I'm just gonna replace the BOV and find one with high psi ratings since I'm getting the FP Green XL anyways.

Is it a eBay knock off? Just wondering because their diaphragms are nearly as bad as the original type S. They eventually start leaking, usually sooner than later. I'm running an NGR Type S BOV, it's a revised version of the Greddy Type S with a better diaphragm. Granted I'm running stock boost still, it's been a great BOV.

This. I had a greddy type s knock off and even replaced the shoddy Diaphragm with a genuine Greddy one and still had a boost leak from it. I ended up having to switch to a legit Type-RZ, only about $200 new, I would switch to a legit one and just eliminate that as a source of any trouble in the future. There is something funky with those ebay knock offs. Either people have great luck with them, or after a while they just stop working for seemingly no reason at all. :thumb:

If you don't want to go to the trouble of making a BLT, there is a guy on eBay that sells them. Lifetime warranty and all.

A knockoff Type S with an NGR diaphragm installed can be just as good, if not better than a legit Greddy unit.

And FWIW, my knockoff Type S has always been pretty quiet when venting to atmosphere. Not much whistling or Zelda noises like you'd expect.
