You cannot adjust ride height for a spring/shocks combination. You can adjust damping/ride quality with the Illuminas though for a soft or firm ride.

For coilovers, you can adjust your height.

Coilovers are nice if you got the money since they cost upwards of $800.

If you have the money I would go with coil overs. If you cant afford them, the pro kit will work great. So yes its better to get coilovers.

Coilovers are not for everyone even if he can afford them. Some peoples goals dont include the need for infinite adjustability.

Ground Control units (sleeve type) are a cheap alternative to the full-on units and still provide the adjustable height if you require it.

I plan on getting the Basic TEIN Coil Overs for my 98 GST. They're about $750. Only about $200 over something like a KYB/Eibach setup. Then a little bit down the way I can sell them and upgrade to the EDFC. :thumb: Just my 2 cents.

I was just about to say that. Ground Control springs are pretty good I heard. Its not a coilover setup but still is adjustable. My buddy had it on his prelude, but the ride was a little rough. My kyb's and prokit felt way better.

I just recently bought the Tokico Handling Kit and am very please with it. The car handles turns so much better now compared to stock. I got them off of ebay for 515 shipped. And with coilovers you are going to need to do a lot of adjusting and testing to find a sweet spot for handling its not as easy as it sounds.

Well i have the Tein basic setup...it cost me around $800 with the alignment after the installation. My reasoning was that if i'm going to pay 500 for springs and shocks, why not get coilovers? I love my tein coilovers and they are stiff as hell. Good pressure on the wheels and not as much wheel hop. I also love the height. Also the basic doesnt allow the electronic thing for dsms

Yeah, I love my setup, I prefer a smooth, easy ride, while smoking the crap out of a GTP. Ha ha!!! Well, on my setup, I have no problems with that, and people say that KYB's are not recommended on our 2nd gens, and yet KYB made our stock shocks, that is probably why people dont have good reviews about them. Oh well, that is all hersey. And the Pro kit only lowers -1", so that neg 1", to be honest, wont even need to be adjusted as much, so long as you get the whole nine, balance, alignment, toe and camber adjusments, etc. You wont have to worry as much these guys that get -2 or -3 lowering springs. Camber kits are great, but the ES bushings, OMG, they do wonders for suspensions.....

i heard the same thing about the KYBs...if you get anything, I heard that the Tokico were very good. A few of my buddies had them and they had no complaints about them at all.

Unless your just going to be using your car for all out performance, with little to no road use or dd. Get coilovers. If your going to have normal road use and dd involved go with springs. Ride quality of springs is so much better my friend.

Ive heard that putting kyb's on springs that lower the car more than 1.5" would bottom out, and not work properly. They would work on a 2g with the eiback pro kit 1" drop
That is what I have on my setup, and I love it. People always down the KYB's, but really enjoy them. The ES bushings, that probably helped out alot, and the new alignment and balancing did too,....

What is all this "I have heard" stuff? JaYRolla WTF , you are proving my point exactly with heresy , you only have heard, you havent actually seen it or done it. Try giving facts about this.... no half truths and word of mouths OMG ..... :talon:

Anyways, it all has to do with how stiff you want and how much control you want to get too. Coilovers have height and dampering adjustments a lot of the times which is helpful if you plan on driving your car as an everyday driver and weekend drag racer.
