Is it a good time to take out balance shafts when replacing timing belt?

I'm replacing my timing belt. I figured to install some cams while I'm in there and wanted to see if I should also take out my balance shafts, or is that a completely different part of the engine and a seperate job in itself?

Thanks.

Imo on a '95 it's time to replace EVERY Oil Seal on your Front Case so YES that is the time to do the BSE - The "window of opportunity" is certainly there - IMO anyone who is changing out their Head is crazy not to do it.

Its still some work to do when ever your replacing your timing belt, but well worth it. Just leave the front one in and cut the rear one off with a saw and you can do it for free too.

I did it all to my 97' GST.
I had the entire front of the engine apart, and my wife was like, "I hope you
can put that back together by Monday morning".

I replaced every single seal and gasket on my motor
except the HG, Intake and Exhaust mani gaskets and rear main seal, but that will be done when I do a clutch....

I have CAPS installed on my PC, so all I'd need is your VIN and I could get you all of the part numbers.

im in the middle of doing a timing belt install....which gaskets exactly do i need to replace?

If you're asking for my help, you need to PM me, and tell me exactly what you are doing.
Typically when doing a T-Belt, there are no gaskets required, unless you are
replacing the waterpump.

Let me know.....

Killer write up... :thumb: :thumb:
I held .155" drill bit between the body of the tensioner and the arm while my wife turned the piece of all thread I made to tighten up the gap...
Worked like a charm.
I turned the crank several times and everything was still perfectly where I set it....
