Is a good detailing pointless if you live down a dirt road?

Wondering if anyone bothers giving their car a good detail when they live down a dirt road.

Ive never cleaned a car THAT well, but im going to do it when it gets nice out, since my car looks like crap :thumbdown

My question is if I did a complete meguiars or zaino detail would it keep dust off my car at all? or let it spray off easy? Im not that far down the road but I have no garage and cars driving by can fling up quite a bit of dust if they just put new dirt down.

So im wondering if I should waste my time by keep doing it or if id just be better off doing something like mr clean autodry after the first good detail.

I would yes for one reason" PRESERVATION.

Preservation of your paint, dont let all that crap build up on it. it you want the shine and luster for when you sell it. :thumb:

my car is pretty hit right now but a complete 2gb conversion with a new paint job is probly coming soon since its cheaper then buying a shell, so I will want it to look good and the paint stay nice.

Would you recommend a full, all out detail? or just make sure I keep with the wax schedule.

does doing this help make the car look cleaner if I just hosed it down with water compared to before? or is that a bad idea.

Im a noob on keeping a clean car :shhh:

I have to travel down a dirt road to work. If I never left the asphalt, I would probably wax and wash the car more often.

I wax my car usually every 2 months, I don't really care about the paint much because it's been damaged since I've owned the car (clear coat leprosy).

Personally, I wouldn't bother with detailing it. Just keep it clean.

Take a couple hours and give it a nice, good claying after your next wash. You'll be amazed at what comes off of the paint that you never knew was on there (run your hand over the surface of the paint, if there are tiny bumps, you should clay it). Just doing this and then following it up with a good pre-wax cleaning followed by a good zaino or Macguiars wax will do wonders for how your car looks. Untimately you'll have the dirt fall abck on the car and have it look like crap again, but honestly those of us that never touch a dirt road still wash the car 2 or 3 times a week anyway so you're not too bad off.

I live on a gravel road and I usually wax my car every 1.5 months and then clay bar twice a year. When I completely detail my car i do the clay bar/paint cleaner/3 coats of polish/wax. If your car is clean and the paint is very smooth to the touch you can get a dust wand "not sure on the exact name" You can pick them up at a Walmart etc. Then when the dust collects simply do a once over on the car removing all of the dirt then use a Meguiars Detailer Spray to keep it looking shiny and smooth everyday!

Invest in some Meguiar's Quick Detailler, mist and wipe.. works wonders after a small rainfall or dust storm.. So you wont find yourself waxing away every weekend..
