Is a 255lph pump any louder than the 190?

I'm trying to make up my mind on witch fuel pump to buy; the Walbro 190lph or the high flow 255lph.

I doubt I'll ever need more juice than the 190 rewired can give, Its just there have been some compelling threads on the topic of "just get the 255 and be done!".

But, at the same time; most the threads I've seen with complaining of pump wine... are 255lph installs.

So I'm wondering; is the 190 quieter than its bigger brothers? And if so, is it really all that noticeable?

Thanks, Sean.

... .... ! ! ! NEED PUMP! ! ! ... ....

Since you have a FPR I would go with a 255lph. Ive heard they are about the same but the 190 is a little quieter. I can say my brothers car has a 255lph and its so freakin loud. I would go with a supra fuel pump. A little more but way worth the purchase. Your getting a denso pump and its as quiet as stock. I found this on ebay, not much more.

Good look'in out Jay; the Supra pump looks to be the mother of all pumps...

... but; I'm seriously short on cash, and I really need a pump upgrade.

Fuel flow is my week link at the moment and the car is cutting out after 5500rpm. I'm sorta new to tuning and need to be carefully not to go lean.

It looks like I would need an install kit from a different supplier to install the Denso Supra pump, and that will cost a good bit with the double shipping.

I'd like to get a Autometer EGT kit to help tune, but don't have the cash for that ether. There's a cheap EGT set up in the VFAQ that looks to do the job. I'm sure you've seen it. It uses parts from an air plain web site. The only down side I see is the non tapping temp probe. It is under 75$ though; and thats about in my price range.

I'm thinking the Walbro 255hp, trunk DinaMat, and VFAQ EGT kit; for about the same price and deal with a little pump wine.

thanks... I'm still hoping someone will chime in who's heard both pumps, the 190 and 255; in action.

I've run the both in the same car and they're about the same with the 255 being slightly louder.

Also EGT tuning is pretty much worthless since high readings can mean that the tune is rich or lean. Looking at knock on a logger is much more worthwhile until you can save some pennies and pick up a wideband.

How much boost are you running? I looked at your profile and it says you dont have the 2g maf installed. I bet that is your problem right there. When you say it cuts out that sounds like fuel cut. You got to remember fuel cut has nothing to due with fuel delivery. Get that maf in there since you have a link and you cutting out will go away. Even if you run lean it should still not cut out.

My 255hp is silent. I have had 4 Walbro's and none of them have every whined :D Must be lucky.

since you have the FPR, I agree with getting the 255lph.........
If you can't stand the little noise it makes, (i dont know how you hear it over the exhaust) either turn up the radio, or sell the car and get a KIA HYBRID.

to answer the real question though, I've heard both and the 255 pump is slightly louder than the 190.......
but no pain=no hp

My walbro 255lph in my civic was louder than the walbro 255lph in my gsx and it's rewired with a rely and powered directly from the battery.

My 255 is pretty loud. Even with my 3'' turboback, my one friend refuses to sit in the back. Especially when I turn my signal light on, sure I could re-wire it I suppose, but Its more fun to see him go crazy. Yet it doesn't bother me.
Cheers

I just wanted to close out this thread letting you guys know how my Walbro 255hp install turned out.

I CAN HARDLY HEAR IT!!!

I would defiantly say that in my case, there are no noise worries I could complain about. Dont let noise factor into a pump purchase; its a minimal difference from the stock pumps whine. In fact its more of a humming sound to me, and I find that less audible.
