Is $1750 to much for a rebuilt 7 bolt?

My motor is toast so I was trying to find out if 1750 is too much for a 7 bolt. It is completely rebuilt with a 93 block and the head off a 98. It has been modified to fit my 2g also it is built by Kingking.com here is the link

I was interested in the 6 bolt swap however I am a newbie and never installed nor built a motor. I am looking for a motor to drop in and get my daily driver running. Any suggestions would be great.

he also has a 2.4 liter 6 bolt for 1850 look here

since my motor is fried I would ike to begin modding this one right but I am very limited by funds. Would it be possible for a newbie to build a 6 bolt and install it in a 2g?

I think so, but thats my opinion. I am sure that someone will disagree. I would personally give some rods and pistons to a machine shop and do a normal rebuild on a head. I wouldnt spend 1750 ever on a rebuilt 7 bolt with a 2g head.

I thought about that however I have no experience with buidling motors, I know that is cheaper but I wouldnt know where to begin. I'll have enough trouble getting the old one out and putting the new one in.

And whats a normal rebuild for the head? Sorry newbie with barely any vehicle mechanical experience.

I spent $400 to have my head rebuilt. It was in pretty bad shape though. It was soo warped and nasty, all the seals were bad. As for removing/installing an engine, its not too bad, just make sure you keep up on what you're doing. Any maintenance manual will usually give steps as to go about removing and installing engines. Thats actually the easy part. Building an engine (a GOOD engine) is the hard part. :talon:

normal rebuild= Valve seals, new guides, decked, hot tanked.

I would say just buy all the parts to build the engine and take them to a good shop within the area. Have them do the assembly too.

im probably going to catch crap for this, but my 7-bolt rebuild was 4 grand between towing, having it pulled and put back in, a new crank, forged rods and pistons, a new clutch, machining, and head work. it could have been done cheaper, but the shop it was done at does exceptional work, and they stand behind it if there's ever a problem.

My head condition is unknown, i am assuming its bad beacuse the pistion broke from the rod and smashed the spark plug in cylinder three. I can pull it apart because of the pending law suit, I just want my daily driver back. But I have to do it on a budget... I dont trust any used motors beacus e they have no warranty and for the cost of one I could get a rebuilt one.

How much would a 6 bolt cost me if I did it part by part as you suggested?

thanks for the responses
