2G Intercooler piping

What is the diameter of most intercooler piping ? Long route or short route.

It all depends on what kit you get. Some kits you'll need to trim others you dont

I an not looking to do the full front mount yet I would like to stick with the side mount. I think 300 to the ground and not asking it to the track I should be okay. Have any advice to witch one to get for the upper intercooler pipe? I have a 1g bov that I would like to use and keep it recirculating.

But on the subject, i was considering having my pipes welded to prevent unavoidable boost leaks.
Anyone care to let me know if their would be a CON to this. ?

No worries I am learning, and trying to get my post count up so I can see the whole site. Seems like I get up to 16 and then they move my questions and post count goes down.... But anyway back topic.... A full solid upper intercooler pipe would be nice so you would not blow off couplers....could you feed it into the engine bay with it all together?

Too much flex in the engine will flex/move the pipes which could cause them to crack (assuming you're talking about fully welding everything so no couplers would be used).

I did not think the engine moved that much... Even with the couplers on top and bottom flexing?

My post was actually targeted at the person who posted above you who mentioned nothing about couplers. If you had couplers at the FMIC and throttle body/elbow, it shouldn't be a problem.

I was asking the question in regards to his question. My assumption to his question was that he was referring to having the couplers on the inlet and outlet side of the pipes. Is that correct miliman?

It was implied of course. It would be impractical to weld to the throttle body and fmic

If you want 300 to the ground your stock intercooler is gonna heatsoak very quick. An upgraded smic or fmic is gonna be needed

Would a stock evo Fmic be good.... I am not looking to cut into the bumper reenforcment.....

You will still have to cut. It doesn't quite fit without doing so. But you don't have to cut as much as you would with others. I just installed this last weekend.

Yea that's expensive I paid 140 for the piping and the intercooler. It required some cutting but it works. Quite well. And the cold side is short route.

Keep an eye out in the classifieds for a supra or a Hahn smic. Those will get you to 300

If you don't have the funds you shouldn't even be thinking about modding the car, buy it right the first time and from a vendor on the site for quality pieces.

Sure I agree with that to a point, but no need to spend 739 dollars on an intercooler to make 300whp. That just seems a bit absurd

I'm not the biggest fan of them but for 300whp you can use an eBay FMIC setup and its cheap.

Funds aren't an issue, but not looking to spend 700 on an intercooler for a lower goal daily driver. Now if I was taking it to the track and aiming for the 11's I would be deff looking for larger numbers and more expensive parts. An intake, 3" turbo back, evo3 16g, ported O2 housing, 660cc injectors,255 fuel pump intercooler pipping with reflash/safc-II is a very conservative goal of 300 I would think.
