Intercooler options for Shearer FF t4 TS manifold?

Usually a forward facing setup requires a lot of custom work. I'm not sure on the placement with that manifold, but it's very common to need a half radiator, custom intercooler setup, and a custom radiator support up front. Many people running setups like this don't even use an air to air intercooler.

Thanks for the reply donniekak. I am aware it will most likely require custom work. What I'm asking is if anyone has used this manifold on here, and how they did the custom work. I've uploaded an image from the shearer site.

Im open to accept suggestions from people who haven't run this particular manifold as well. I'm mostly interested in how I can get an air to air intercooler to work, since the car will not be limited to the drag strip.

I don't have the setup but I've been reading a decent amount about FF setups. Water to air setup is your friend, and I've found a number of people who drive the car on the street pretty often. Choosing a good heat exchanger and fan to keep the water temps in check seems to be the key.

Yeah, it definitely looks like this manifold is made for a water to air setup but I'd like to road race the car a couple times a year. I hope I can find a way around the turbo sticking out like that.

That manifold (as Ron and others will tell you) is setup for a serious drag racer. Air to water or a straight methanol car is what it's intended to be on. I also looked into that manifold (the gen 2 version) before I bought my JMFab top mount. There isn't going to be an air to air cooler small enough to fit in the car that'll cool the air charge down. Just not happening period. I've talked to a few guys about it in detail last year. A setup like that is aimed at 900+whp drag cars. Not saying you can't use it to road race. It's just your going to need an air to water cooler if you wanna use it on a non methanol car. Ron also makes badass A2W intercoolers and could easily setup you up. STM makes a forward facing 2g specific manifold that COULD use an air to air cooler..

I heard it's possible to go W2A for road racing but I would need something the size of an additional fuel cell just for the coolant, and then you have to wire the pump and it just seems like so much work and also the additional parts means there are more things that can fail.

I wish that manifold had a t4 ts housing. I suppose what I really like about Shearer's is how he stretched it out, unfortunately for anyone that wants to go A2A it becomes a challenge to say the least.

I'm sure STM could swap a TWTS flange on there manifold! Call and ask Emery!

With a forward facing manifold you are taking up the realestate in the front of the car where a large (read: able to cool a large turbo) FMIC would go. This means you'd have to run a smaller FMIC which is working backwards from making power.

I think you've got your answer in the first post in this thread.
