Intake manifold to block bracket?

Is this needed? I know the knock sensor runs along this but if I run the wiring differently will I need it for any grounding reasons or anything if the sort?

On another note does a 1990 gst have an extra plug in this area? I was comparing my 90 IM to my 91 IM and the 90 appears to have an extra plug towards the top of this bracket. It was oval shaped if my memory serves me right.

I had a few engines and I never used the bracket or the plug on it, I think its part for vacuum on emission cars.

...but i believe the bottom bolt for the bracket is the one that goes right in to the rear BS. Skip the mounting bracket and build yourself a nice breather hose coming off that port and run it to a catchcan...

Not the same hole as the rear BS check hole, so you know.

The only original through hole on the backside of the block is for the rear balance shaft check bolt.

Lot's of mass hanging off the head, I sleep better at night knowing I kept the bracket, sounds like lots of people have not run into issues with it removed.

The only downside I could see without using it is that weight free hanging overtime and messing with gasket sealing causing boost leaks but that just freehand guessing.
