A buddy has a 1g motor that he's putting back together. He seems to have misplaced his intake Y bracket. I have a stock spare 2g motor with a Y bracket but they are different. I know it serves a purpose but would it be necessary to use this bracket? It also got me to thinking. What do the people who run aftermarket manifolds do?

I have ran with and without and never had any issues what so ever. And good point on the aftermarket intake manifolds granite they don't weigh as much.

The bracket helps with the weight of the manifold, so it does not put as much stress on the studs. Stock weighes about 10bs, I think, thats for the 1g.

Most aftermarket manifold are lighter than stock, although the Magnus cast manifold is pretty big, I wonder how much it weighs compared to the stock ones.

I have put a head back on without it. No problems so far. I have also put it on with it, just a pain to get on, I have also modified the bracket to allow for me to mount a fuel filter there. I have seen people using those bolt holes to make brackets to hide all sorts of stuff.

I haven't had one on in years and have no issues. From the factory it was used to support the manifold as well as route some vacuum lines I believe. You can remove it with no side effects.

It will not work with most (all?) aftermarket intake manifolds as they don't dip down like factory ones do. Their runners come straight out of the head and the plenum sits up higher than stock manifolds.
