I've been looking around for performance mods and such for my 95 GS. And read in one place that port and polishing your intake manifold and getting a bigger throttle body will give you some some good gains. Right now, my engine is bone stock. I will due a full tune up and matinence before any of this.

Anyway, it seems to me that if I want to get a larger TB, then I'll have to port the Intake Manifold so allow all the air to flow. Am I thinking the right way? Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance, help a DSM noob out. :thumb:

Correct you could always buy an obx intake mani and a 60mm tb or you could port and polish your stock one and get a 60mm tb either way

I read about the OBX mani, some people hate it, some don't. I think I might go with a port and polish of my stock because I don't really have too high of a budget. But anyway, would you happen to any good 60mm TB'S?

You can make good gains with a port and polished stock manifold. Grab a Jeep TB. STAY AWAY from anything OBX!

Thanks for the help so far guys!

I'll go with a Jeep one because the Modern Performance looks like it's just for a manual transmission? Can someone confirm that?

Also, anyone have a link or a place to look for the Jeep TB? I'm looking but nothing seems to come up good.

And just one more question while it's on my mind, should I get a CAI before I do this mod?

That's it for now, I appreciate all this greatly! :thumb:

So I've spent the last few days looking around and what not for the 60mm TB. I found one refurbished one off a Jeep for about $70 on Ebay...It was gone the next day :(.
So I decided to look for 55mm TB'S and found this one.
The website has bad reviews from Google Shopping, but this is the best price anywhere.
CI 55mm Throttle Body Eclipse/Talon 420a - CI Motorsports

It has "just add your sensors and go" which is appealing. But wouldn't it be best to get new sensors since I drive a '95?

Any help is welcome.

The best source for Jeep TB's is your local junkyard. I usually get them for $10-15 depending on the yard. They're always still attached to the car, nobody ever takes them (Hmmm, maybe I should start grabbing as many as I can since there's about a million jeeps here in CO :sneaky: )

Manual transmission units are 55mm and autotragics are 60mm.

How about these guys?

DSM THrottle Bodys

They're cheaper and I've not seen bad reviews of this company.

The $110 price is for sending your own in, but I really don't think that would help a whole lot since it's a 14 year old car. So I looked on his Ebay page for a new one and it was
$170. But the seller doesn't take returns.

But it does seem like a reliable source, I added the site to my favorites.

I guess I'm just kinda skeptic on the wiring or sensors, how affordable are these?

Skillz is right also. There are other parts that will give you more gains and should be prior mods. You aren't in any need to be able to move a slight bit more air or move it more smoothly. You wouldn't notice much if anything until you upgrade your head. But if you are still so inclined on it, go with what I recomended unless you don't have the tools or can't port.

Why not get Intake/Header/Exhaust first?

Well my plan is to get a tune up and run maintence before I do anything.
After that, I was going to go CAI.

I'm not so sure about headers, I make minimum wage and don't work a whole lot (senior in highschool). But then again, the money I would spend on a TB and all would most likely be able to buy some nice headers. Recommend any?

It has an aftermarket muffler, but it was there when I bought it and don't know what brand. I know that doesn't help.

Yes, I did say I was in highschool. Don't worry, I'm not a hardass and don't want to paint my DSM lime green and get an aluminum wing. I am good with my money. Just had to throw this in there.

That's exactly what you should do. If you already had that mindset, then why are you trying to mod now? Is your TB and IM bad? I can justify upgrading during maitence but not upgrading with out doing maitence.

I'm not tryin to mod now, I was trying to get info about this for the future. Right now I'm focusing on getting my car painted and my new wheels put on. I will do a tune up and maintence before any mods later.

As for the TB and IM, I have no idea. I know they're stock and 14 years old and would be amazed if they're still running at their highest level.

The only thing that would go bad with the IM is from all the exhaust gasses greasing it up on the inside. Could benefit from a cleaning. You can rebuild the TB yourself and it's not hard to do. I would test the sensors on the TB to see that they are still within spec. There isn't much that can go bad on those and until you have large gains in mind, people stick with the stock setup.

Okay, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to clean it up sometime and check the TB.
Another thing, are you familar with Option Racing Headers or Megan Racing Headers? They have the best price that I've seen for stainless steel. I'm to iffy on ceramic.

Sea Foam it before you do the rest of the tune up. It'll do a pretty good job of cleaning everything up, to include pistons, combustion chamber, and valves. Just make sure you run it through on the old plugs cause chances are they'll be fouled out after the Sea Foam

Run seafoam and if you let it sit on the pistons you'll have to change the oil after you run it and change the plugs then afterwards. Megan Racing is good quality, I haven't heard of the other.

Alright, thanks for the seafoam advice.

And I found some Megan Racing headers for $160 shipped on Ebay.
Pretty good deal considering, the OBX are more expensive and not as reliable.

I don't believe I have any other questions! Thanks to all of you, I'm sure you'll hear from me again soon. :thumb:

Oh and the band Gojira, :hellyeah:
