Could be a bunch of things. Is the car running fine? I'm just concerned there isn't any build up elsewhere stealing performance from you.

The car idles bad but pulls pretty well for a stock turbo. I cleaned the Tb and about to put a new gasket since the old one was leaking. My ISC has to be replaced and it should run fine.. idk why there is so much buildup..

That build up is caused by the EGR system. That's carbon/oil and whatever else is in your cylinders coating the walls. The best thing to do is thoroughly clean it out with degreaser and remove the EGR valve.

So with that being said. Does it hurt your motor or performance to remove the EGR valve or what is the point of an EGR removal?

The purpose of the EGR valve is to recirculate the exhaust gasses when certain criteria are met. It is used to lower NOx (?) for emissions by adding in partially/burnt exhaust into the cylinders as an incombustible gas to fill the place of air. It will cool the cylinders a little bit and will re-burn the unburnt fuel in the exhaust mixture that got recirculated.

It will not affect your motor removing it other than allowing your intake manifold to stay clean.

You need the EGR for emissions and removal of the system will throw a CEL. People do it to clean up the bay, part of an emissions removal, better efficiency of the intake manifold or for all 3 reasons.

I've also read that its designed to give you better gas mileage. I removed mine and my gas mileage is the same though....
