alright i have a 93 talon na im puting a 92 eclipse 4g63 na in it i bought the car with a weapon r intake pipe. now idk what to do with the big can. i want to put a filter in so my options are get a k&n adatper kit now if i do that can i put any filter on or just aslong as it clears the maf? or i was todl i can do a mafr swap to a 2g or gm maf if i do either will that allow me to put any filter on or will i still need a filter to fit over the maf? im looking for some diffrent ideas i just want some better air flow

Okay so you have a new motor, a cold air intake tube, and stock MAF attached at the end of the pipe? That sound about right?

sorry for the mistakes the intake is Weapon-R this is the intake on it goes from the tb to the maf i wanna get rid of the can and put a filter on if i do the k&n adapter will that allow me to use any filter or just the k&n. i basically want a way to get rid of the can and get put any kind of filter on there

Yeah that was kind of rough to read through.

To address your question about getting more air flow you could go the cold air route or switch to a GM maf but you would have to also buy a maf translator. The maf translator would also allow you to vent your bov atmospericaly if you were interested in doing that.

All you need to do is go to the local parts store and buy a K&N air filter for your car at the local parts store, nothing more. Use your Weapon R pipe, connect it to the maf back plate where it probably is now, then put your new K&N filter over the maf and the clips will hold the filter directly to that and you can ditch the can.

Personally before I went turbo I kept the can (well part of it). I drew a line across it and cut it in half and used part of it as a heat sheild, as well as a mount because it left 2 of the 3 hold down bolts there which kept it sturdy. I'll dig up a picture and post it here.

EDIT: Found a picture, this one showed the most of it. You can't see a whole lot of the can, but it should give you enough.

There is no adaptor piece like that for a 1g. In a 2g they make an adapter piece for that sort of thing but for a 1g a K&N factory style replacement is the best move especially for a NT car. This ensures you will still have the correct MAF readings and the car will run like it should. This is pretty much the all around best option IMO because it's cheap (cost of K&N air filter, about $45) it's functional, and it still looks good to beat.

no the maff sits inside of the can i pop the cna off and the maff is siting there. so i plan on putting a k&n filter in and cutting the can to form a heat shield.

The can is 2 pieces LOL, the MAF will stay attached to the "lid" of the can covered by the filter. The rest of the can is just that, a can. Cut it the right way and you've got a nice mount and heat sheild like in my pic above. MAF is still safe and sound inside the air filter
